Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports to monitor budget performance (capital, labor, operating, auxiliary services), identify variances, and provide financial, statistical, and policy analysis to support management decision-making.
- Support fiscal projects by compiling and analyzing data from general ledger, billing, and budget systems, producing tables, charts, and reports for management, customers, and other departments.
- Provide financial and operational data to support long-range planning for electric and water systems, including future generation, water supply needs, rate comparisons, and system design considerations.
- Assist in developing revenue requirement, cost of service, and rate design studies while tracking and analyzing monthly water and electric consumption and revenues by customer, rate class, and geography to assess fund adequacy.
Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business administration, or accounting, along with one year of professional experience in financial analysis and reporting, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The role requires strong knowledge of economics, finance, accounting, and budgeting principles and practices, as well as the ability to analyze large datasets and translate them into clear, accurate reports. The ideal candidate will be able to apply established financial, economic, and budgeting policies across a variety of scenarios and communicate effectively and collaboratively in both oral and written form with internal stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership, as well as external governmental and private sector partners.
Preference for employment in all positions with the city shall be given to applicants who are full-time city residents.
To be eligible to apply, current City employees must have completed their probationary period and attained certified status in their current position.
