THE ROLE
STRIVE Recruitment is partnering with a well-established North American organization operating within the environmental services and infrastructure sector to recruit a Controller for their Abbotsford operations. This is an exciting opportunity for a Controller to join a financially strong, growth-oriented business that provides essential services to communities and commercial customers across Canada.
This role is ideal for a CPA qualified Controller who enjoys partnering with operations and making a tangible impact on business performance at an organization that empowers its local leadership teams while offering the support, stability and career progression of a large, publicly traded company.
The Controller will oversee all accounting and financial reporting activities for the district while acting as a trusted business partner to operational leadership. You'll play a key role in driving financial performance, strengthening internal controls, budgeting, forecasting and supporting strategic business decisions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the monthly close process, including preparation of financial statements
- Prepare account reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial reporting
- Complete monthly forecasts and variance analysis against budget
- Partner closely with operational leaders to provide financial insights and recommendations
- Lead the annual budgeting process
- Prepare capital expenditure requests and supporting financial analysis
- Maintain and enhance internal controls and reporting processes
- Coordinate inventory counts and asset tracking
- Coach and support non-financial managers on financial processes and controls
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- CPA designation
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
- 4-7+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Previous experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller or Senior Accounting leadership role
- Strong financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting experience
- Excellent business partnering and communication skills
- Highly analytical with strong attention to detail
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems
