Summary:
The Manager, Carrier Procurement is responsible for leading and developing a team of Carrier Procurement professionals while executing procurement strategies that support STG's growth, service, and profitability objectives. This role provides day-to-day leadership, coaching, and operational oversight while developing strategic carrier relationships, improving procurement performance, and ensuring consistent execution across the business. The Manager partners closely with Operations, Customer Success, and Sales to deliver reliable capacity and exceptional customer service.
What You'll Do:
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Carrier Procurement team through regular performance management, training, and mentorship.
- Build and strengthen strategic carrier relationships to improve capacity, service, and long-term network stability.
- Execute procurement strategies that improve margin, increase carrier utilization, and reduce dependence on transactional capacity.
- Monitor team performance using key operational and financial metrics while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partner with Operations, Customer Success, Pricing, and Sales to support customer growth, service recovery, and strategic initiatives.
- Develop carrier solutions supporting dedicated capacity, drop trailer opportunities, and customer-specific procurement strategies.
- Ensure effective execution of shipment visibility, claims management, accessorial controls, and carrier compliance.
- Monitor freight market conditions and coach the team on effective pricing, negotiation, and carrier engagement strategies.
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and customer-focused execution.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and transportation industry experience.
- 4+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or freight brokerage.
- 1+ years of leadership or team management experience.
- Strong understanding of truckload procurement, carrier development, pricing, and transportation markets.
- Proven ability to coach, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Parade, Revenova, McLeod, MercuryGate, or comparable transportation platforms.
- Experience developing dedicated carrier networks and drop trailer programs.
- Experience supporting customer implementations and strategic RFPs.
- Experience leading process improvement or technology adoption initiatives.
- Knowledge of digital freight procurement, visibility platforms, and AI-enabled transportation tools.
Compensation & Benefits Information:
- Salary Range: $74,900 - $100,000
