The Role

We're looking for a detail-oriented and collaborative Assistant Finance Manager to join our finance team in Sepang, Malaysia. In this role, you will support the Finance Manager in overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and cost control activities. You will also be responsible for handling Cost Controller functions, including monitoring departmental costs, analysing variances, reviewing operational expenses, and supporting effective cost management across the hotel. You will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial records, compliance with regulations, and the smooth execution of month-end and year-end closing processes, while helping to develop and mentor junior team members. Key Responsibilities

• Assist in overseeing daily accounting operations and coordinate the workflow of the Finance Department to ensure accuracy and efficiency
• Support the preparation of statutory financial statements, monthly Profit and Loss reports, and other financial documentation in compliance with Malaysian accounting standards
• Manage and review Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities, ensuring timely processing of invoices, payments, and collections
• Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue accounts to optimize cash flow
• Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations, accruals, and adjustments
• Review daily revenue reconciliation from various departments and verify cash, credit card, and other payment transactions
• Investigate financial discrepancies and implement corrective actions to maintain the integrity of financial records
• Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts; monitor departmental expenses against approved budgets and analyze variances
• Support the implementation and maintenance of internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
• Assist with internal, external, and statutory audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations
• Coordinate with Human Resources on payroll-related financial matters and verify payroll costs and deductions
• Supervise and guide junior accounting staff, providing coaching, training, and constructive feedback to improve performance
• Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation in accordance with company policies and legal requirements
• Identify potential financial risks and recommend appropriate control measures to management
• Support inventory monitoring and assist in reviewing inventory reports to identify and investigate significant variances

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline
• Significant professional accounting experience, including hands-on involvement in financial reporting and accounting operations
• Proven experience in month-end and year-end closing processes and statutory financial reporting
• Demonstrated experience with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations (including VAT and withholding tax), and Malaysian accounting standards
• Solid understanding of internal controls, financial compliance, and segregation of duties
• Experience supervising or mentoring accounting team members
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software systems
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet demanding deadlines
• Professional proficiency in English (written and verbal)
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
• Strong time management skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure
• Demonstrated commitment to transparency, accuracy, and ethical financial practices
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work resiliently in a fast-paced environment
