Accounting Manager

JOB OVERVIEW:

Under the general supervision of the Controller, the Accounting Manager is responsible for various activities involving the fiscal operations of PHMC and its subsidiaries. This position will assist the Controller in the preparation and coordination of formal budget and forecasting programs. This position will work with the Controller in the planning of the annual audit and all schedules required for completion. This position will work directly with other staff in the areas of billing, cash management, and other projects that are needed in the Finance department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review Purchase Request forms and monitor for coding accuracy and Budget Allocation.
• Prepare/Review Invoices for fee-for-service and Cost Reimbursement Billing.
• Prepare journal entries for Cash Receipts, Prepaids, Accrued Expenses, Depreciation, and adjusting entries.
• Perform Periodic Internal Audits or desk reviews at programs.
• Prepare/Review/Reconcile Cost Reimbursement Report and submit to Funders.
• Monitor Due to/From Account Balances to ensure accurate contract billing.
• Prepare budget projections/forecasts for Programs and/or Subsidiaries.
• Familiarity with and ability to process transactions through cost allocation systems.
• Prepare Bank Reconciliations for Subsidiary entities.
• Maintain follow-up on due dates for general ledger submission, billing, and reports that must be prepared within the area of responsibility.
• Perform account reconciliation and complete audit schedules assigned.
• Prepare/maintain Accounts Receivable Aging, monitor receivables, and pursue cash collections.
• Assist in the preparation of request for proposal budgets.
• Track and maintain high schedules that demonstrate completion of activities and related schedule timelines
• Supervise staff such as accounting clerk, staff accountant, and/or senior accountant level positions

SKILLS:

• Strong written and verbal skills are required. 
• Excellent knowledge of PC and related accounting applications, preferably in Microsoft Dynamics. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5 plus years of related work experience. 
• Must possess technical and professional accounting skills and the ability to develop financial and other operational systems. 
• Must have excellent knowledge of PC and related accounting applications, preferably in Microsoft Dynamics. 
• Strong communication (written and verbal) skills are required.
• Must have the ability to successfully communicate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders such as internal program and finance supervisors, external auditors, community providers, and funders.  
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to adhere to schedules, timelines, and deadlines are imperative.
• Must possess analytical and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of management, both internal and external. 
• Previous supervisory experience preferred.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's Degree in accounting
