Accounting Manager
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee key accounting operations, financial reporting, and revenue analysis. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, and driving process improvements across the accounting function.
The Accounting Manager will oversee gross and net revenue reporting, contractual allowance analysis, and collectability modeling while partnering closely with finance, reimbursement, revenue cycle, and operational leaders to support accurate financial reporting and strategic decision-making.
What You'll Do
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation in accordance with GAAP.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure the accuracy of financial records and reporting.
- Analyze financial results, budget variances, revenue trends, and reimbursement performance, providing recommendations to leadership.
- Own revenue reporting, contractual allowance analysis, and collectability modeling.
- Partner with Revenue Cycle, Patient Accounts, FP&A, and leadership on financial planning and operational initiatives.
- Coordinate annual audits, regulatory reporting, and tax-related schedules while serving as the primary contact for external auditors.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and increase operational efficiency.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and supporting documentation.
- Assist with the annual operating and capital budgeting process.
- Mentor and support accounting staff while fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5–10 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, preferably within healthcare, medical groups, managed care, or provider organizations.
- Strong background in general ledger accounting, financial reporting, revenue recognition, and budget analysis.
- Experience coordinating audits and preparing regulatory and tax reporting schedules.
- Proven ability to improve accounting processes and implement operational efficiencies.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial information to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting systems such as PeopleSoft, Workday, Great Plains, or EPSI. Experience with Epic is a plus.
- CPA or MBA preferred.
