About the Role

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will provide financial leadership and support across our group of companies, partnering with senior management to drive strong financial performance, enhance processes, and support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting and Reporting

·       Oversee accounting operations for all five operating entities.

·       Manage monthly, quarterly, and year end close procedures.

·       Ensure accurate recording of revenue, costs, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets and intercompany accounts.

·       Coordinate responsibilities within team members to manage and meet deadlines.

·       Oversee AP and AR processes across five entities

·       Monitor cash requirements across all entities and projects.

·     Ensure timely processing and payment of subcontractors, supplies and other vendors.

·       Monitor collections, aged receivables, and customer accounts.

·       Coordinate annual budgets across all five operating entities.

·      Support year-end audit, including preparation of working papers, analysis, and other required support.

·       Develop and maintain effective accounting policies and procedures.

·       Establish proper controls over intercompany transactions between the five entities.

·       Help mitigate financial, contractual, fraud and reporting risks.

·     Ensure compliance with applicable Canadian and BC accounting, tax and reporting requirements.

Leadership

·       Support the team and provide effective leadership for the group of companies.

·    Understand the unique needs and requirements of both the Finance and Construction teams, providing insight and leadership to foster collaboration and continuous improvement.

·      Promote a culture of teamwork within the finance and accounting team, and the company as a whole, by coaching, directing, and assisting staff as needed.

·       Manage and motivate the finance and administrative team of 5 staff members.

Operational Support

·       Provide support to the business.

·       Identify opportunities to add value by supporting the team.

·       Recommend and implement new controls and processes.

·       Prepare and analyze reports for key stakeholders as requested.

·       Act as the primary accounting resource for operational management.

Qualifications / Requirements / Knowledge

·       CPA designation

·       Minimum of 3 years supervising accounting staff

·       Familiarity with Acumatica is beneficial

·       Experience in the construction industry and unionized environments

·       Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel pivot tables

·       Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle

Salary: $95,000 - $120,000 per annum

The actual salary offered to the successful candidate will be determined based on job‑related factors, including relevant experience, years of experience, qualifications, internal equity, and Carlson Construction Group’s compensation policy.
