Accounting Assistant (Internship)

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a growing Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Accounting or Finance graduate, or an accounting professional with up to two years of experience, looking to build a strong foundation in corporate accounting. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and eager to contribute to day-to-day accounting operations while supporting month-end close, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities
• Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and general ledger accounts
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions as needed
• Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules
• Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies
• Support internal and external audits by preparing requested documentation
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
• Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
• Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 0–2 years of accounting experience (internship experience welcomed)
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
• Experience with accounting or ERP systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or QuickBooks is a plus
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• CPA eligibility or plans to pursue a CPA are a plus

Compensation & Schedule

• Pay Rate: $24–$26/hour
• Temp-to-perm opportunity
• Hybrid schedule: Monday–Wednesday onsite, Thursday–Friday remote
