As an Accounting Analyst II or III, you will play a key role in supporting the organization's accounting and financial reporting functions through the compilation, analysis, and interpretation of financial information used in management decision-making. This position contributes to accurate financial reporting, compliance with internal and external requirements, and continuous improvement efforts through process optimization, technology, and automation. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical capabilities, a commitment to safety, and the ability to identify and implement efficiencies that enhance business performance.
Responsibilities/Expectations
- Perform assigned month-end activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, management reporting, SEC reporting, and variance analysis.
- Prepare, maintain, and develop schedules, reports, and analyses for internal and external customers.
- Provide requested documentation and clear explanations to support internal and external audit processes.
- Process and analyze significant volumes of data, transactions, and accounting information.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and accuracy through automation, technology, and streamlined business processes.
- Participate in projects and cross-functional initiatives and serve as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
- Accounting Analyst III may provide mentorship, guidance, and support on more complex assignments and projects.
- Promote effective cross-functional communication and collaboration within the team and across departments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Years of Experience
Accounting Analyst II
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related major with a strong accounting focus and a minimum of two (2) years of accounting experience in the energy industry.
- Preferred: CPA.
Accounting Analyst III
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related major with a strong accounting focus and a minimum of four (4) years of accounting experience in the energy industry.
- Preferred: CPA.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrates excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with safety as the utmost priority.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Promotes effective cross-functional communication and collaboration within the team and across departments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial skills.
- Preferred: Familiarity with U.S. GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Preferred Experience
Candidates with one or more of the following experiences may be particularly successful in supporting Williams' growing Power Innovation organization:
- Experience with ERP and accounting systems such as Oracle, PowerOptix, Quorum, Open Invoice, or similar platforms.
- Experience analyzing complex financial data and identifying process improvement opportunities through automation and technology.
- Experience working with complex accounting processes and computerized accounting systems.
- Knowledge of or experience with upstream oil and gas accounting, including JIB, Revenue, and Asset Accounting (successful efforts).
- Knowledge of or experience with power generation accounting.
- Experience supporting complex financial reporting, consolidations, and cross-functional business initiatives.
