Hope Is Alive Ministries is a faith-based nonprofit recovery organization dedicated to transforming lives through Jesus Christ. Founded on the belief that lasting recovery is possible, HIA operates across six states — Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, Texas, and North Carolina — serving individuals and families affected by addiction through residential recovery programs, community outreach, and discipleship.

Position Summary
The Accountant position plays a vital role in sustaining the financial integrity that enables HIA’s mission. This position manages core accounting functions including accounts receivable, fixed asset tracking, and financial reporting support, ensuring accurate and timely recording across financial systems. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, mission-aligned professional who brings technical accounting competency and a genuine commitment to the people and purpose behind the numbers. This role sits within the Central Office Team and contributes directly to the organization’s ability to serve individuals and families in recovery across six states.

Key Responsibilities
The following are the primary duties and responsibilities of this position. This list is not exhaustive and may be adjusted to support organizational needs.
Financial Operations
- Record daily accounting entries in QuickBooks based on donations received, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Own daily donation recording and reporting processes, maintaining data integrity across all financial records.
- Maintain general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries as needed.
- Ensure consistency and accuracy of data between monday.com and QuickBooks.
- Collaborate with the accounting and finance team to improve processes and implement new systems as the organization grows.

Donor Data & Work Management
- Maintain donor data integrity within monday.com by reviewing and resolving duplicate records.
- Manage and coordinate donor information workflows using monday.com work management software.
- Develop and maintain reports and dashboards in monday.com to support operational visibility and decision-making across teams.
- Own year-end tax reporting for charitable donations, ensuring compliance and donor satisfaction.

Additional Responsibilities
- Communicate financial or operational information clearly to non-financial staff, translating technical details into accessible terms.
- Support process improvement initiatives and cross-functional projects as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of organizational goals and mission.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Two or more years of professional accounting experience.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to translate complex financial or technical information into accessible terms for non-financial stakeholders.
- Self-directed with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
- Alignment with the mission and values of Hope Is Alive Ministries.

- Experience with Construction in Progress accounting and fixed asset management.
- Experience reviewing and analyzing monthly financial statements.
- Experience with accounts receivable and recording revenue.
- Experience assisting in financial audits.
