DescriptionJob SummaryProvide, under minimal supervision, Return preparation, Sales tax transaction analysis and support services for the Accounting Services-Tax Group. An Accountant III is a senior-level accounting position that requires advanced knowledge and expertise in financial management and reporting. Responsibilities may include preparing and analyzing financial statements, conducting audits, ensuring compliance with accounting regulations, and providing guidance to junior accountants. Accountant III may also be responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in accounting software are essential for this role.Essential Functions• Gather financial data from both ERP and Longview systems• Maintain accounting records in accordance with Company policies and GAAP.• Review sales taxability rules and transactions and prepare reports.• Prepare annual Mineral Tax Returns• Prepare various U.S. Census Reports annually.• Serve as backup for preparing state annual reports due throughout the year• Posting EFT payments for sales/use tax returns to Treasury Spreadsheet• Posting Sales & Use Tax returns to monthly calendar• Assist with federal and state fuel refund claims• Prepare and file Quarterly IFTA Returns• Prepare document for IFTA Decals –Annually• Manage mail and order office supplies for groupCritical Competencies• Results oriented - Sets challenging goals (individual and organizational) and tracks performance against these goals. ResponsibilitiesEducation• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.Experience• Must have a minimum of 2 years of general or cost accounting experience.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities• Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.• Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.• Highly proficient with accounting software.• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.• Analyze and reconcile financial data.• Must have strong organizational skills and display attention to detail. Must have strong time management skills.
