ASME is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Tax Analyst to support the organization’s tax compliance, reporting, analysis, and research activities. Reporting to the Tax Director, this role assists with federal, state, local, and international tax reporting, supports tax research and compliance processes, and collaborates with internal stakeholders and external advisors. The ideal candidate is highly organized, adaptable, customer-focused, and committed to delivering accurate work in a deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparation and support of federal, state, local, and international tax filings, including Forms 990, 990-T, 4720, 1120, 5471, and indirect tax filings (VAT/GST/sales tax).
- Collect, organize, and validate financial, investment, and operational data required for tax compliance and reporting.
- Maintain workpapers and documentation supporting tax filings and reporting activities.
- Process tax payments, refund requests, and filing logistics.
- Research routine tax issues and summarize findings with supporting documentation.
- Respond to tax notices and inquiries from tax authorities.
- Support indirect tax registrations and reporting activities.
- Provide research support to Accounting, AR, AP, Legal, and other internal stakeholders.
- Assist with presentations, meeting summaries, agendas, and action items.
- Contribute to process improvements, automation initiatives, and AI-enabled efficiencies.
- Support audits, financial statement disclosures, and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related financial, business, or legal field.
- 2-4 years of experience in federal, state, local, and/or international tax.
- Knowledge of U.S. tax reporting and general taxation principles.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe PDF.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Experience with ERP systems and tax preparation software preferred.
- Tax research experience involving the Internal Revenue Code, regulations, rulings, and case law preferred.
Additional Information
This role is eligible for a remote work arrangement. Periodic business travel may be required, including but not limited to, ASME offices, globally.

Annual base salary may vary based on geographic location. The New York metro salary range for this position is estimated to be between $78,000 - $82,000 per year.
