Staff Accountant

STAFF ACCOUNTANT 

SUMMARY: To support the Financial Reporting Supervisor and CFO in carrying out the responsibilities of the Finance / Accounting Department. 

JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Maintain the fixed asset system and associated depreciation schedules; provide monthly detail for journal entries; insure proper recording of new purchases and disposals
• Perform daily, weekly and monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Perform daily, weekly and monthly balancing of the Bank’s internal deposit accounts
• Perform daily, weekly and monthly journal entries in the Bank’s general ledger system
• Maintain and balance the pre-paid assets system and perform reconciliations
• Maintain files as needed within the department
• Prepare correspondence as needed within the department
• Perform such other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time – quite often on short notice - by the Financial Reporting Supervisor or CFO
• Assist in the preparation of various management reports

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelors in Accounting or Finance with emphasis in Accounting preferred 
• Cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher

• Strong skills in dealing with financial and numeric data
• Strong skills in use of Excel Spreadsheets
• Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office products
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Demonstrates excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done to meet important deadlines, complete projects, etc. often required of department
