Position Summary
The Senior Finance Manager, Accounting & Reconciliation provides strategic and operational leadership across Fixed Assets Management, Intragroup Accounting, and Banking Operations. The role is accountable for accurate and timely accounting, strong financial controls, effective service delivery, audit readiness, and continuous improvement across onshore, offshore, and shared-service teams.
This leader partners with Nestlé operating companies, Corporate Reporting, Treasury, Tax, Shared Services, Internal Controls, and external auditors. The role translates enterprise priorities into clear operating plans, resolves complex and high-risk issues, and develops scalable processes that support business transformation, legal-entity changes, and evolving finance systems. The position also leads major cross-functional transformation projects and ensures consistent, reliable reporting across all supported accounting areas.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Leadership and Governance
- Own end-to-end service delivery, governance, controls, performance, and continuous improvement across the supported accounting operations portfolio.
- Own the accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery of management, financial, and operational reporting across Fixed Assets, Intragroup Accounting, and Banking Operations, including period-end schedules, performance indicators, and key risk and issue reporting.
- Establish priorities, management routines, service expectations, KPIs, escalation protocols, and clear accountability across multiple teams and service-delivery partners.
- Monitor close execution, operational performance, aged items, financial risk, capacity, and control effectiveness; provide concise management insight and drive timely corrective actions.
- Ensure policies, standard operating procedures, role clarity, and documentation remain current and support consistent execution and audit readiness.
- Lead cross-functional governance and issue-resolution forums, aligning stakeholders on decisions, ownership, timing, and sustainable solutions.
Fixed Assets Management
- Provide leadership and oversight for the fixed asset lifecycle, ensure fixed asset accounting is accurate, timely, and compliant with applicable accounting standards, company policies, internal controls, and close requirements.
- Oversee account reconciliations, asset-under-construction monitoring, aging reviews, impairment indicators, and resolution of exceptions or legacy items.
- Partner with project owners, Engineering, Procurement, Tax, business finance, and Shared Services to improve data quality, clarify ownership, and strengthen capital governance.
- Support audits, control testing, system changes, integrations, divestitures, reorganizations, and other events affecting the fixed asset register.
Intragroup and Intercompany Accounting
- Lead end-to-end intragroup and intercompany accounting activities, including transaction governance, reconciliations, settlements, reporting, eliminations, and resolution of differences across legal entities.
- Oversee preparation, review, and timely submission of required period-end schedules and supporting financial information.
- Drive resolution of aged balances and recurring exceptions through clear ownership, root-cause analysis, escalation, and sustainable corrective actions.
- Maintain strong controls and documentation over trading-partner data, confirmations, reconciliations, settlements, and period-end reporting.
- Provide accounting leadership for mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, integrations, dissolutions, restructurings, legal-entity rationalization, and related system or organizational changes.
Banking Operations
- Provide governance and oversight for banking operations delivered through internal and shared-service teams, ensuring service levels, quality, controls, and close requirements are achieved.
- Partner with Treasury and other stakeholders on bank-account governance, access administration, payment platforms, cash reporting, bank fees, and resolution of banking-related issues.
- Ensure bank reconciliation exceptions, outstanding items, rejected or duplicate transactions, and control issues are monitored, escalated, and resolved promptly.
- Support audit requests, control testing, and process or system changes affecting banking operations.
Transformation, Process Improvement, and Analytics
- Lead simplification, standardization, automation, and digital enablement across the portfolio, prioritizing improvements that strengthen controls, data quality, cycle time, efficiency, and user experience.
- Lead complex cross-functional projects and finance transformation initiatives, including digital transformation, Legal Entity Rationalization, deconsolidation, system implementations, and organizational or process changes affecting the supported accounting areas.
- Use data, dashboards, and analytics to improve visibility, identify risk and capacity trends, and support fact-based decisions.
- Build a continuous-improvement culture that addresses root causes rather than recurring symptoms and shares leading practices across teams.
People and Stakeholder Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop managers and team members while providing functional direction to offshore and shared-service teams.
- Establish clear goals, performance expectations, development plans, succession coverage, and a culture of accountability, inclusion, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Assess workload, capacity, skills, and organizational coverage; align resources with close requirements, transformation priorities, and business risk.
- Build trusted relationships with senior finance leaders and cross-functional partners, communicating complex accounting and operational matters clearly and recommending practical actions.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex issues and ensure decisions are appropriately documented, communicated, and implemented.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification.
- Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in accounting, controllership, financial reporting, shared services, treasury operations, or related finance roles.
- 5+ years of people-leadership experience, including leadership of multiple teams, managers, or complex service-delivery relationships.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, financial close, balance-sheet reconciliations, fixed assets, intercompany accounting, and banking operations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex operations, resolve high-risk issues, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Advanced analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present clear recommendations to senior leadership and auditors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Experience with SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA, consolidation or intercompany solutions, fixed asset systems, banking platforms, and reconciliation tools.
- Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, deconsolidation, legal-entity transformation, ERP implementation, or shared-service transitions.
- Experience using Excel, Power BI, Power Query, Power Automate, Microsoft 365, and AI-enabled productivity tools to improve finance operations.
Key Competencies
- Strategic and enterprise thinking
- Financial control and risk management
- Cross-functional collaboration
