General Statement of Duties

The Senior Staff Accountant is an advanced individual contributor responsible for performing and coordinating key accounting activities across the organization, with primary ownership of significant components of the month-end close and financial reporting processes. This position prepares complex journal entries and reconciliations, maintains accurate accounting records, supports audits and regulatory filings, and helps strengthen internal controls and accounting processes to ensure timely, accurate, and GAAP-compliant financial results. This position has no direct reports but serves as technical resource to the accounting team members and operational departments. The Senior Staff Accountant will meet deadlines and complete work with a high degree of accuracy, judgment, and accountability.

Essential Job Functions

Job Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, required.
  2. Three to five years of progressive accounting experience, including substantial responsibility for general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close; multi-entity experience is preferred.
  3. Strong working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and internal controls; experience with healthcare, senior living, nonprofit accounting, reimbursement, audits, cost reports, of Form 990 preparation is preferred.
  4. Demonstrated advanced competence with Microsoft Excel and an enterprise-level general ledger application, with the ability to analyze complex financial information and resolve issues independently.
  5. Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and judgment, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet firm deadlines.
  6. CPA, CMA, or MBA designation is preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

  1. Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and carry items weighing up at least 25 lbs.
  2. Must be able to perform repetitive tasks and maintain focus in a busy setting.
