Senior Staff Accountant

Finance Department | ACNB Bank

Location: Gettysburg, PA (hybrid - Tuesdays and Thursdays in-office)

Are you an experienced accounting professional who enjoys turning complex financial activity into accurate, reliable reporting? ACNB Bank is looking for a Senior Staff Accountant who can strengthen daily accounting operations, support month-end close, and help ensure our financial records are complete, accurate, and aligned with GAAP, internal policies, and SOX controls.

In this role, you will be counted on to own higher-risk and more complex accounting activity, produce accurate journal entries and reconciliations, and provide dependable financial support to leaders, auditors, regulators, and internal partners.

Performance Objectives

• Prepare, derive, and post accurate daily general ledger entries for routine and complex activity within established deadlines.
• Complete and review periodic reconciliations for general ledger accounts, IDDAs, accounts payable runs, proof-to-trial accounts, taxes, BOLI, and other complex items.
• Support the monthly close process by helping consolidate financial records and validating that supporting documentation agrees with general ledger activity.
• Review reconciliations prepared by Staff Accountant team members and provide clear follow-up when corrections or additional support are needed.
• Maintain accounting for capitalized assets, amortization terms, prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, branch lease schedules, and related monthly entries (back-up role).
• Provide timely and accurate information for internal audit, external audit, regulatory reporting, financial reporting, and other third-party requests (back-up role).
• Help strengthen internal controls by supporting the design, implementation, and operation of processes that comply with SOX, internal policies, and safekeeping requirements.
• Partner with the Assistant Controller and Chief Accounting Officer to manage general ledger accounts and cost centers so reporting objectives are met.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Accounting or Finance.
• At least five years of accounting experience within the banking industry (ex. GL and product mapping with core system).
• Strong understanding of GAAP as it relates to financial institutions.
• Working knowledge of banking regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate clearly with internal partners.
• Ability to build productive relationships across the business and positively influence others.
• Preferred qualifications include seven or more years of banking accounting experience, familiarity with Fiserv products such as Signature, Prologue, and Vantage, and CPA licensure.
