As a member of Key’s second line of defense Financial Crimes Risk Management (FCRM) function, the Senior Compliance Manager leads enterprise AML governance, reporting, policy, procedure, training, and regulatory engagement activities. This role manages a small team of FCRM professionals and partners with senior stakeholders to promote a consistent, risk-based, and well-documented BSA/AML/OFAC compliance program.
The Senior Compliance Manager must demonstrate strong leadership, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex regulatory, governance, and risk management matters clearly to executives, regulators, auditors, business partners, and cross-functional stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Lead enterprise FCRM governance activities, including the development, maintenance, and implementation of governance frameworks, standards, committee processes, and related documentation.
- Manage a small team of FCRM professionals, fulfill all relevant management responsibilities.
- Facilitate AML Oversight Committee bi-monthly meetings as committee administrator, including scheduling meetings, maintaining committee Outlook mailbox, coordinating meeting agendas, invitations, preparation and distribution of meeting materials, and overall adherence to established timeline and process steps leading up to each meeting and to annual planning calendar of items for review and approval by the Committee.
- Independently manage the annual review and development of AML/CFT and OFAC related training materials, review and challenge employee training assignments provided by Human Resources Compliance Training, prepare a summary of changes and present recommended changes to FCRM management and the Chief AML Officer for approval, and oversee training completion rates to ensure training is completed in a timely manner by employees. Perform quarterly review and challenge of OFAC Supplementary training assignments to new hires and role transfers.
- Support development, delivery and tracking of FCRM supplemental training (e.g., Quarterly AML Investigations training).
- Perform FCRM Compliance Training completion monitoring and reporting, providing management with teammate completion results on a weekly, quarterly and ad hoc basis, as applicable.
- Coordinate the annual Financial Crimes Governance (FCG) Policy and KeyCorp AML/OFAC Procedures reviews and updates. Establish a review schedule and coordinate with FCRM Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure all policy and procedure review deadlines are met. Review the Policy and KeyCorp AML/OFAC Procedures to ensure incorporation of updates to reflect recent AML Program changes and organizational changes, as applicable, terminology consistency and correct grammatical and formatting errors. Prepare a summary of changes and submit final redlined Policy and procedures to management and the Chief AML Officer for review and approval. Prepare the FCG Policy materials for the AML Oversight Committee, Compliance Risk Committee, and Board of Directors approval. Retain documentation on the established SharePoint site or MS Teams location.
- Proactively identify and track updates needed to Key’s policies, procedures and training content based on regulatory changes, new products/services, emerging risks, regulatory/Internal Audit feedback, and/or process changes. Coordinate with FCRM SMEs to ensure complete and accurate updates to Key’s written program.
- Manage governance of updates to FCRM-related line of business (LOB) Compliance procedures throughout the year as FCRM SMEs complete ad hoc procedure reviews. Partner with LOB contacts and FCRM SMEs to facilitate procedure reviews and incorporation of SME feedback. Maintain appropriate documentation and tracking log in to the established SharePoint site or MS Teams location. Coordinate the annual inventory and review of FCRM-owned desktop procedures. Update FCRM SharePoint Procedure Inventory of FCRM-owned procedures to reflect new and updated procedures, including procedures created or updated as a result of process change approvals. Own and draft updates to the FCRM Enterprise Team Governance & Reporting Procedure to reflect changes in processes, etc.
- Oversee the FCRM Regulatory Change Management review process, including review, completion and/or assignment of Regulatory Intelligence Items (RIIs) for SME review, perform quality control review on completed RIIs and enforcement action gap analyses, and provide training and guidance to FCRM partners on the requirements for completing RIIs. Provide appropriate oversight of designated FCRM Enterprise Team associate to reduce or eliminate preventable quality control exceptions as reported by the Compliance Regulatory Intelligence team. As applicable, review other industry information related to financial crimes (BSA/AML/OFAC) and assess impact to Key’s program.
- Complete periodic design and operating assessments as FCRM Enterprise Team Control Procedure owner.
- Provide support to the FCRM Enterprise Team Compliance Executive in drafting governance reporting materials including, but not limited to, periodic updates to the bank’s Regulators, Board of Directors, or Compliance Risk Committee.
- Provide regulatory exam management support to the FCRM Enterprise Team Compliance Executive and FCRM Enterprise Team, as needed.
- Effectively partner and establish trusted relationships with LOB contacts (including but not limited to Risk Management partners, Key Legal, Enterprise Learning & Development, and 1LOD Risk Office)
- Perform complex compliance tasks as assigned.
MARGINAL OR PERIPHERAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform administrative and coordination activities as necessary to support governance routines, team operations, and timely completion of assigned responsibilities.
- Support internal communications, KeyConnect updates, mailbox management, meeting coordination, and other non-core activities as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience in compliance, risk management, financial crimes, or financial services.
- 3+ years of experience managing teams, leading risk management initiatives, or overseeing governance, policy, reporting, or regulatory engagement processes.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of BSA/AML/OFAC compliance program requirements, governance expectations, regulatory guidance, and risk-based compliance practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including group and executive presentations and meeting facilitation.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, and governance, risk, compliance, or reporting tools such as Archer GRC.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $116,000.00 - $216,000.00 annually. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location.
