What You Will Do:
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to support our Americas accounting function within a dynamic global finance organization. This role, reporting to the Accounting Manager, will play a key part in the monthly close process, equity accounting, and maintaining a strong internal control environment within a publicly traded company.
This position combines hands-on accounting responsibilities, functional oversight of staff accountants, and ownership of key processes and controls, making it ideal for a candidate who is detail-oriented, collaborative, and driven to improve processes in a fast-moving environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review, and post journal entries across various accounting areas in support of the monthly close process
- Perform and review account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely resolution of reconciling items
- Support a fast-paced close process, including variance analysis, flux explanations, and presentation of financial results in monthly accounting close meetings
- Maintain ownership of assigned areas of the general ledger, ensuring accounting is in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Own the end-to-end equity accounting process, including coordination with external administrators and advisors
- Prepare and review stock-based compensation accounting, entries, and supporting schedules
- Perform technical accounting research and support the preparation of accounting memos for complex or non-routine transactions
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across accounting processes, including close optimization, automation opportunities, and standardization
- Maintain and enhance documentation of accounting processes and procedures
- Serve as both a control owner and reviewer for key SOX controls
- Support internal and external audit requests, including walkthroughs, testing, and documentation preparation
- Provide functional oversight, guidance, and review support to staff accountants
- Partner with cross-functional teams across finance, operations, and other business functions
What It Takes:
Required Qualifications: Minimal qualifications required in order to be considered for entry into the job
Education and Experience:
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Background in public accounting with exposure to publicly traded companies
- Experience working in a SOX-compliant environment
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and general accounting principles
- CPA certification preferred
- Experience with equity accounting and stock-based compensation preferred
- Experience performing technical accounting research and drafting memos preferred
