We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our growing team. The Senior Accountant will partner closely with Project Managers and leadership to monitor project performance, analyze costs, and provide financial insights that drive business results. What You'll Do
Project Accounting & Financial Analysis
- Partner with Project Managers to monitor project budgets, costs, profitability, and cash flow.
- Analyze project financial performance
- Prepare and maintain project cost forecasts, billings vs. costing comparisons, and variance analyses.
- Track project progress to ensure costs and revenues are recorded accurately and timely.
- Monitor committed costs, subcontractor expenses, and project liabilities.
- Prepare weekly and monthly project cost reports and financial summaries.
Billing, Accounts Receivable & Collections
- Prepare and process customer billings in accordance with contract terms and project milestones.
- Manage project accounts receivable and support collection efforts.
- Work with Project Managers and customers to resolve billing discrepancies and payment issues.
Accounts Payable & Vendor Management
- Process and review vendor invoices for accuracy and compliance.
- Follow up with vendors regarding invoice approvals, payment status, and account inquiries.
- Manage the AP inbox and ensure timely processing of invoices and requests, including setting new vendors
- Support subcontractor billing and payment administration.
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Generate weekly, monthly, and ad hoc financial and operational reports.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Support audit, tax requests and financial statement preparation.
Process Improvement
- Help develop, document, and improve accounting procedures and internal controls.
- Identify opportunities to increase efficiency through automation and process enhancements.
- Contribute to special projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the finance organization.
What We're Looking For:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail with a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.
- Familiar with Claude or other AI tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with project accounting, service-based environments.
- CPA designation or progress toward CPA certification is a plus.
- Experience preparing financial performance analyses.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online preferred
- Experience in the construction industry is a plus
