Senior Accountant

HornBill has a client in Chantilly, VA/Reston, VA is seeking a dynamic mid-level Senior Accountant to join our corporate office in Chantilly, Virginia. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and analyze internal monthly financial statements and year-end audit financial statements
• Assist with month-end closing, including reconciling the general ledger accounts
• Cash administration to include daily reconciliation of operating account and preparing daily cash reports for management
• Lease accounting to include setting up new leases, maintaining deferred rent schedules, equipment, and vehicle lease schedules
• Assist with project to transition lease accounting to ASC-842
• Assist with financial audit preparation and responses including annual external audit, bank audits, 401(k) audit and other audits as required
• Help develop Staff Accountant and other Accounting team members
• Assist with the development, implementation of and monitoring adherence to company accounting policies and procedures
• Identify, research and resolve corporate accounting, auditing and operational issues
• Identify opportunities for process improvement
• Assist Controller with special projects to facilitate the effective functioning of the Finance Department

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required
• CPA preferred but not required
• Minimum of five years of corporate accounting experience
• Thorough knowledge of GAAP
• Excellent organization and communication skills
• Knowledge of Deltek Vision preferred
• Must have AP full cycle exposure
• Prior architecture, engineering, and/or construction accounting experience preferred
• Previous experience with mergers and acquisitions is a plus
