Senior Accountant We are seeking a Senior Accountant based at our corporate headquarters in Taneytown, Maryland, to oversee financial reporting and accounting activities for our Midwest manufacturing operation. The Finance department is based at our corporate headquarters and includes Accounting, Credit, Treasury, Product Costing, and FP&A. The department supports two primary areas of the business: factory-built products shipped to customers and products manufactured on-site for the construction industry, most commonly in the power generation sector. The team provides accurate, responsive service to internal and external customers and sales representatives supporting these operations. The Senior Accountant – Midwest is one of two senior accountants and is responsible for accounting activities for our on-site manufacturing location in Greenup, Illinois. The role combines hands-on accounting and financial reporting with staff oversight, audit support, and process improvement for the Midwest operation. Responsibilities:

Manage the three-person Accounts Receivable team responsible for invoicing across all U.S. locations.
Manage staff of 2 accountants
Compile and analyze financial information to prepare monthly financial statements.
Prepare financial statement for the Midwest location.
Reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.
Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures.
Support performance of annual financial statement audit with external auditors.
Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
Assist with Sales and Use Tax Audits.
Support Controller with special projects and workflow process improvements.
Implement and oversee ongoing workflow process improvements.
Documentation of Policies and Procedures.
Maintain professional education and oversee staff development and continuing education.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
Master’s or CPA preferred, not required
Minimum 5 years experience in accounting
Familiarity with complex sales tax topics
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Must be highly skilled in use of MS Office, especially Microsoft Excel
Must have an excellent work ethic, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to meet deadlines
Willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization
Strong organizational and analytical skills
