Job TitleSenior Accountant

Reports ToChief Financial Officer

Areas of ResponsibilityResponsible for assisting the CFO in monitoring the activities of the organization’s fiscal activities, including the maintenance of accounts, financial statements, cash flow, and investments; Provide financial information and statements to internal and external users; Assist in oversight of the efficient operations of department systems and programs; Provide guidance and leadership on compliance with the organization’s accounting policies and procedures and GAAP.

Major Duties:

  1. Review daily transactions including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable; oversee general ledger.
  2. Enter health center accounts payable coding sheets into accounting system. Enter health center monthly charges and adjustments into accounting system. Enter health center program budgets into accounting system.
  3. Complete transfers between bank accounts timely and accurately.
  4. Provide a daily bank balance of the main bank account to the CFO and the Chief Executive Officer.
  5. Maintain and balance assets and liability accounts by verifying, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
  6. Aide CFO in preparing audit paperwork.
  7. Prepare monthly and quarterly grant reports as needed for health center programs.
  8. Implement and monitor fiscal internal control systems.
  9. Perform the necessary duties in the absence of the CFO.
  10. Prepare and Process payroll bimonthly.
  11. Responsible for hiring, onboarding, directing and mentoring staff, including communicating job expectations, performance reviews, and corrective actions, staff schedules, reviews and approve timecards, time off requests and attendance tracking of direct reports. 
  12. Maintain confidentiality of records and communications following CAPWN policy and HIPAA privacy and security policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

Grade: 8

  1. Associate’s Degree in Business and Accounting from an accredited college PLUS two years relevant experience in accounting minimum.
  2. Two years’ supervisory experience preferred.
  3. Training or experience in the non-profit sector is preferred.
  4. Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record and insured vehicle.
  5. Age 21 or older.
  6. Computer knowledge/experience with Microsoft Office programs and accounting applications required.
  7. Advanced Excel experience required.

Grade: 9

  1. Meet the minimum qualifications above AND
  2. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university AND
  3. Three years’ relevant experience in accounting in non-profit organization preferred.

Grade:10

  1. Meet the minimum qualifications above AND
  2. Five or more years’ relevant experience in accounting in non-profit organization preferred.
