Seafood Plant Financial Controller

Description: Position Title: SEAFOOD PLANT FINANCIAL CONTROLLERLocation: Saint-Simon, New BrunswickReporting: To the head office while working in collaboration with the plant management.Job Summary:As the Plant Controller you will be responsible for planning and coordinating financial planning activities in alignment with corporate policies and practices of the plant. You will provide financial directions to the plant and provide recommendations to improve site performance daily.Core Duties:• Manage and maintain the daily financial reporting of the plant from receiving to shipping and beyond.• Prepare monthly and annual financial statements.• Control the distribution of Purchase Orders (POs) and approve invoices for payment.• Check and approve production costs prior to the accountant entries in Sage 300.• Continually work to improve and ensure all financial KPIs such as inventory, labor costs, overheads, analysis, costings, reduction of expenses, etc are at forecasted levels.• Prepare annual production projections, annual budgets and ensure their implementation.• Analyze the costs of daily production with the managers to meet required margins and follow up with corrective measures necessary to achieve goals.• Take charge of the preparation and filing of requests for financial assistance, insurance claims, and other claims from institutions.• Take charge of the foreign worker's file, complete the applications associated with their arrival to departure following CRA and IRCC guidelines.• Participate in all plant audits and its subsequent corrective actions with the administration team of the plant.• Take charge, prepare, and participate in certification programs like ECCP and others.• Support and update the CTPAT program.• Supervise financial product processing activities to ensure actual production costs meet the forecasted costs.• Manage and coordinate documentation of finished products and that of the special orders of customers as defined by the sales and marketing department.• Regularly suggest any changes that can maximize the profitability of the business and implement them when approved.• Participate in the development and implementation of all new projects, products, cash and document their files.• Actively participate in decision-making for the proper management of the company and the achievement of its objectives.• Act as a company representative at industry or government meetings, seminars etc.Role Pre-requisites - all required:• Advance knowledge of Sage 300 accounting software and ADP HR Software• Hand on experience of Seafood plant accounting• Bachelor’s degree in finance or related major• Advance level in French and English• Advance level Microsoft Excel skills and high proficiency with Microsoft Suite• Strong network within the seafood industry stakeholdersPosition Details:• Salary: Based on skills and experience• Position: Permanent and full-time• Other: This position offers health insurance, vacations, professional growth, experience and knowledge of prepared meals and value-added products for the right candidate.
