Job Summary
Are you an experienced procurement professional with a strong background in mechanical construction? Join our team as a Procurement Specialist and play a key role in ensuring our mechanical projects have the materials, equipment, and services they need to stay on schedule and within budget.
In this role, you will manage the procurement process from sourcing and negotiating to purchasing, supplier coordination, and delivery, while working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Operations, and vendors.
The ideal candidate is a proactive, organized, and results-oriented professional who understands the demands of mechanical construction and knows how to find the right products and suppliers at the best value.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage requisitions, obtain and evaluate quotations, and issue purchase orders.
- Source materials, equipment, tools, and services for mechanical construction projects.
- Identify and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, availability, and delivery performance.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and service agreements with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Monitor purchase orders from approval through delivery to ensure materials arrive when needed.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, Operations, and suppliers to meet project requirements.
- Follow up on material availability, production, shipping, invoicing, credits, and quality issues.
- Monitor purchasing costs and delivery schedules to support project budgets and timelines.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, wholesalers, manufacturers, and subcontractors.
- Identify alternative products, suppliers, and purchasing strategies to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, pricing information, supplier qualifications, and order status.
- Research new products, suppliers, and industry trends related to mechanical construction.
- Prepare procurement reports and provide management with updates on purchasing activities.
- Support procurement planning and anticipate material and equipment needs throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in construction procurement or purchasing required.
- Experience in mechanical construction procurement strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Procurement, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.
- Experience sourcing and purchasing mechanical materials, equipment, tools, and services is highly valued.
- Experience with purchasing contracts, supplier negotiations, and procurement processes.
- Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, both written and verbal.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, organizational, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
