Job Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Procurement Coordinator to support and manage purchasing, sourcing, logistics, inventory, and supplier performance. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining effective supply chain processes that improve operational efficiency, control costs, maintain appropriate inventory levels, and support reliable product availability.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in purchasing and supply chain operations, including international sourcing, importing, supplier management, contracting, lean processes, and continuous improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review and update supply chain policies and procedures to comply with new or changing environmental policies, standards, regulations, and laws, including Proposition 65 and other location-specific requirements.
- Maximize inventory and working capital turns by developing suppliers with shorter delivery cycles, improved reliability, and smaller order quantities while maintaining appropriate safety stock levels and avoiding stockouts.
- Manage supplier quality and performance issues through the Supplier Corrective Action process.
- Maintain documentation and records of supplier issues, resolutions, corrective actions, and related communications.
- Participate in the customer complaint review process and remain informed of relevant customer complaints.
- Develop procedures to effectively coordinate supply chain activities with sales, marketing, finance, production, quality assurance, and other functional areas.
- Design and implement supply chain strategies that support overall business objectives.
- Adapt supply chain strategies in response to changing market conditions, new business opportunities, and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve supplier performance, operational efficiency, and overall supply chain effectiveness.
- Support company objectives and demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous improvement.
- Model and uphold company values in daily responsibilities and interactions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in purchasing, supply chain management, and logistics.
- Extensive experience with international supply chain management, importing, and global sourcing.
- Strong understanding of lean and continuous improvement principles.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing lean business processes within an international supply base.
- Thorough understanding of legal contracting and supplier agreements.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with vendors, suppliers, shippers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong financial analysis skills and a goal-oriented approach.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Valid U.S. passport.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally approximately 5%–25% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated success improving inventory turns, supplier lead times, reliability, and purchasing efficiency.
- Experience managing supplier corrective actions and supplier quality issues.
- Experience working with environmental and product compliance requirements, including Proposition 65.
- Experience collaborating across sales, marketing, finance, production, and quality assurance functions.
Work Environment / Schedule
- Position is based in Richmond or Staunton, VA.
- May require extended periods of sitting at a desk, typing, and standing.
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
- May periodically work in construction or warehouse environments.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Must adhere to the our clients Health & Safety Manual.
- Attendance at company safety meetings and participation in safety drills are required.
- Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when applicable.
- Domestic and international travel may account for approximately 5%–25% of the role.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary range of $75,000–$90,000.

- Insurance benefits are available to eligible employees working 30 or more hours per week.

- Benefits eligibility begins the first of the month following the employee's date of hire.
