Procurement Specialist/Buyer

We are looking for a Procurement Specialist to join our team at a motor controls company. In this role, you will help make sure we have the materials and components we need, when we need them. You will work with suppliers, manage purchasing, monitor material needs, and help resolve issues that could affect production. THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION.
Responsibilities
Purchasing & Supplier Management
- Purchase electronic and mechanical components, fabricated parts, printed circuit boards, hardware, MRO items, and other materials using our MRP system.
- Obtain and compare supplier quotes to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and delivery.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers.
- Source services and other items as needed.
Planning & Purchase Orders
- Monitor MRP demand and exception reports and place purchase orders based on current needs.
- Prepare pricing and lead-time information for customer quotes.
- Create, review, and maintain accurate purchase orders and purchasing information.
- Track open orders and work with suppliers to keep deliveries on schedule.
Materials & Problem Solving
- Identify and address material shortages before they impact production.
- Expedite late or urgent orders when needed.
- Work with suppliers and our quality team to resolve issues with defective or unacceptable materials.
- Resolve pricing, quantity, and delivery discrepancies with suppliers and accounting.
- Work with other departments to help keep materials available and production moving.
- Research components, suppliers, and alternatives based on price, availability, quality, and demand.
- Support purchasing and supply chain projects and process improvements as needed.
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, materials planning, or a related manufacturing role.
- Experience working with an MRP or ERP system is preferred.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Able to work well with suppliers and other departments.
- Good problem-solving and negotiation skills.
- Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
Education: A bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, or a related field is a plus, but relevant work experience will also be considered.
