Process Coordinator – Lead Yard Services Procurement

We offer a competitive salary for this role, with an expected range of $83,000.00 – $105,100/yr. The final offer will depend on your experience, skills, and overall qualifications. The Process Coordinator for Lead Yard Services Procurement supports the execution and continuous improvement of procurement processes related to DDG 51 Class Standard Equipment (CSE) changes. This role ensures strong schedule adherence, efficient cross‑department coordination, timely communication with stakeholders, and accurate reporting to both internal and external customers.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety Leadership:

• Champion BIW safety culture and enforce all safety standards and procedures across operations.
• Support safety training and continuous improvement in workplace safety performance.

Project Execution:

• Lead schedule adherence for all DDG 51 Class Standard Equipment (CSE) changes, ensuring updates, actions, and dependencies remain on track.
• Communicate with internal departments including Engineering and Program Office, the Navy, and Suppliers to ensure changes progress to schedule.
• Maintain accurate and updated documentation, including process guides, vendor records, change status logs, and contract tracking materials.
• Monitor and escalate schedule risks, changes, or delays to appropriate stakeholder leadership to maintain alignment and prevent disruption.
• Serve as a central point of contact for inquiries related to change status, documentation requirements, and procedural guidance.

Training and Development:

• Assist buyers by facilitating communication, gathering technical or operational details from other departments, and coordinating follow‑up actions.
• Develop and administer key performance indicators related to CSE change management; prepare regular status updates and metrics.

Continuous Improvement:

• Track, manage, and report the status of all CSE‑related changes to the Program Office and the Navy customer in a clear and timely manner.
• Support end‑to‑end procurement processes for Lead Yard Services, ensuring compliance with internal policies, contractual requirements, and regulatory standards.
• React to stakeholder feedback by identifying process gaps, proposing enhancements, and helping implement process improvements.
• Support supplier communication by coordinating documentation requirements, meeting schedules, and action‑item follow‑through.
• Coordinate audits, reviews, or compliance checks related to procurement processes and prepare necessary supporting documentation

Required/Preferred Education/Training

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.

Required/Preferred Experience

• Experience in procurement, supply chain, project coordination/management.
• Strong understanding of schedule management, workflow tracking, and cross‑department coordination.
• Ability to interpret technical information and communicate effectively with engineering, planning, and production teams.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, follow structured processes, and maintain accurate documentation.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, including status reporting to leadership and external customers.
• Demonstrated ability to identify process gaps, propose solutions, and support continuous improvement.
• Proficiency with standard business tools (Excel, SharePoint, scheduling tools, ERP/MRP systems, etc.).
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and escalate challenges appropriately.

Preferred

• Experience supporting Navy programs, shipbuilding environments, or defense contracting.
• Familiarity with DDG 51 Class Standard Equipment (CSE), or configuration/change management processes.
• Knowledge of FAR/DFARS and general defense procurement compliance requirements.
• Experience working directly with external customers or program offices on status updates and deliverables.
• Understanding of technical documentation, engineering change instructions, or contract modifications.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Yellow Belt
