A Day in the Life
The Corporate Core Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team supports Medtronic’s global planning, forecasting, performance reporting, and long-range strategic planning processes. The team partners closely with Corporate Finance, Investor Relations, Treasury, Tax, and business and functional leaders across the company to provide financial insights that support enterprise decision-making and long-term value creation.

As a Principal Financial Analyst, you will support global financial planning, forecasting, and reporting activities through detailed analysis, financial modeling, and executive-ready reporting. You will partner with finance leaders across the organization to evaluate business performance, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and provide insights that support strategic and operational decision-making.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance financial models supporting annual operating plans, forecasts, strategic planning, and performance reporting.
- Analyze financial results, business trends, variances, risks, and opportunities to support leadership decision-making.
- Prepare consolidated financial analyses, executive reporting packages, and presentations for Finance leadership.
- Support annual planning, long-range planning, forecasting, month-end close, and quarterly reporting processes.
- Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide recommendations based on financial performance trends.
- Partner with Corporate Finance, Investor Relations, Treasury, Tax, and business teams to improve planning and reporting processes.
- Validate, maintain, and improve financial data, reporting tools, and analytical processes to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Lead or support special projects focused on process improvement, reporting automation, and financial insights.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of accounting or finance experience OR Master's degree and 5+ years of accounting or finance experience.
- Experience in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and financial modeling.
- Experience developing and interpreting financial analyses, business performance metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Experience partnering with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders in a large organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Experience operating within a complex, global matrix organization.
- Experience with Power BI, reporting dashboards, automation tools, or AI-enabled finance solutions.
- Experience leading finance process improvement or reporting optimization initiatives.
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
- Experience within the healthcare, medical device, or other highly regulated industries.
For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
