Payroll Specialist

Role: Payroll Specialist - Netherlands and Belgium Reporting Structure: EMEA Payroll Lead Location: Weert, Netherlands Annual base salary rate: 47,000 - 53,000 EUR

The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for delivering accurate, compliant and timely payroll processing for both the Netherlands and Belgium.  This role requires adherence to Dutch and Belgium employment law, social security regulations, tax legislation and collective labour agreements (CLA's). The specialist will serve as the main point of contact for the employees, HR, Finance and external payroll providers. The successful candidate must be fluent in both Dutch and English and willing to support the wider EMEA Payroll team as a back-up during absences and support on ad hoc projects.

Essential Functions

Manage monthly payroll cycles for NL and BE, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Validate employee data including new hires, terminations, salary changes, benefits, working hours, OT and holiday allowances. Coordinate with Dayforce and external payroll partners. Review gross-to-nett calculations and resolve discrepancies. Ensure compliance with Dutch and Belgian tax and labour laws. Calculations of commuting, work from home allowances, ensure correct calculations of OT payments. Warrants – assist with the election campaign. Prepare payroll reports for Finance and HR. Respond timeously to payroll queries from employees in NL and BE. Provide guidance on payslips, tax codes, benefits and statutory rights. Responsible for supporting the testing and implementation of a new payroll vendor. Keeping up to date with country specific legislative changes that could affect the payroll.

Skills and Experience

3-5 years of experience as a Payroll Specialist. Strong knowledge of Dutch and Belgian payroll legislation, including employment laws and collective agreements in the respective countries. Working knowledge of HRIS (Dayforce) and E-ticketing systems. High attention to detail and accuracy. Strong willingness to work as part of a team. Strong communication skills across multicultural environments. Ownership mindset with the ability to resolve issues independently. Ability to manage deadlines. Experience working in a multinational or shared service environment.
