JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary

The Payroll Specialist works directly with the Senior Payroll Manager in processing payroll.  The Specialist collaborates and supports numerous team members during the bi-weekly payroll processing activities and through regular communications both oral and written.  Due to a solid working knowledge of payroll, state, and local tax compliance, the Specialist inspires confidence in the efficient and accurate delivery of payroll compensation to all team members. 

Duties and Responsibilities

• Execute end-to-end payroll processing activities, including but not limited to, verification payroll data entry and integrity, wage calculations, deductions, and taxes. 

• Reconcile and audit payroll for accuracy

• Resolving payroll discrepancies

• Collaborate with Finance, HR and other support teams required to gather and validate pay-roll data, as related to new hires, terminations, promotions, and compensation changes.

• Manage PTO related pay outs, bonuses, and garnishments.

• Process manual checks, voids, stop payments, and direct deposit reversals, as needed.

• Respond to queries from garnishment and unemployment agencies, as well as employment verifications.

• Prepare reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disa-bility, and nontaxable wages

• Provide payroll information by answering questions and requests

• Review and assist with improving processes and procedures

• Comply with federal, state, and local tax setup by reviewing existing tax profiles; and provide advice regarding additional setup of new tax jurisdictions 

• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. 

• Adhere to Cultivate Management Corp policies and procedures

• Perform other duties as assigned including duties that include but not limited to compensation, benefits, deductions, and ability to reconcile and audit payroll records

Qualifications

• Prior Payroll experience (Minimum 3 - 5 years) 

• Garnishment experience (Minimum 2-3 years)

• Experience with bi-weekly payroll/hourly employees

• Experience with multi-site operations

• Experience in a high growth environment 

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and manipulate data effectively.

• Experience with implementation between multiple payroll service providers and third-party systems integration(s) a plus but not required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Advanced level skills in the use of the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables), Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook Email and Calendar

• Familiarity with HRIS systems, and with UKG Pro, a plus

• Familiar with state and local taxes

• Detail oriented and deadline driven 

• Proven ability to work and collaborate with other team members and to maintain a positive attitude

• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners.

• High level of integrity and dependability and the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities

• Excellent organization and mathematical skills

• Willingness to learn and grow as a team member

Working conditions

Physical Conditions: 

• Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and spend time standing as well as an ability to lift items up to 25 lbs.

• Endurance to move from a seated position to a standing position to accomplish re-quired tasks

• Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity enough to operate office equipment, etc.

• Ability to communicate effectively, both visually and audibly through a variety of communication platforms and utilizing multiple electronic devices
