About You
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Minimum of 5 years’ hands-on full-cycle payroll processing experience
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
- Extensive knowledge of multi-state payroll tax laws and regulations
- Proficiency with payroll software systems and Microsoft Excel
- Experience in the professional services industry and/or with Deltek Vantagepoint is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
- Payroll certification such as FPC, CPP, or equivalent is a plus
- Experience working in a complex, multi-state environment is preferred
- Familiarity with timekeeping systems and benefits administration is preferred
About the Role
As a Payroll Specialist, you will:
- Process accurate and timely payroll for employees across multiple states, including regular and off-cycle runs
- Calculate and withhold federal, state, and local taxes ensuring compliance with varying multi-state regulations
- Prepare and file payroll tax returns and related reports on time
- Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies related to tax withholdings and deductions
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changing payroll laws and regulations for all applicable states
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure employee records and payroll data accuracy
- Assist with audits related to payroll and tax compliance
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, tax deductions, and benefits
- Support year-end payroll activities including W-2 and 1099 preparation
