POSITION SCOPE
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Payroll Manager to lead and oversee our end-to-end payroll operations across multiple regions in the US and for our global workforce. This role will be responsible not only for ensuring accurate and compliant payroll execution, but also for driving continuous improvement, scalability, and efficiency across our global payroll function.
The ideal candidate brings deep payroll expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a proactive mindset toward optimizing processes, systems, and controls in a growing, international environment.
This role reports to the Chief Talent Officer and partners closely with the Director, Talent Operations (Benefits, Systems), rest of the talent team, members of the Finance team as well as external benefit brokers and systems vendors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Own and manage global payroll operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across all regions
- Act as the subject matter expert on international and multi-US state payroll regulations, tax requirements, and compliance standards
- Partner cross-functionally with HR, Finance, Legal, and external vendors (PEO, benefit broker, HRIS vendor and external parties) to ensure seamless payroll integration and data integrity
- Drive strategic improvements by evaluating and enhancing payroll systems, processes, and workflows
- Manage relationships with payroll providers and vendors, ensuring service quality and cost efficiency
- Implement scalable solutions to support company growth, including new country expansions
- Establish and monitor internal controls, audits, and reporting to ensure risk mitigation and compliance
- Provide payroll insights and reporting to senior leadership to support decision-making
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Significant experience in global payroll management, preferably in a fast-paced, international organization
- Strong knowledge of multi-country and multi-US state payroll compliance and regulations
- Demonstrated experience leading payroll transformations or system implementations
- Proven ability to operate both strategically and hands-on
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- High attention to detail with a continuous improvement mindset
Location: The Chief Talent Officer sits in the NYC office of GA Group. The ideal candidate will be based in NYC, Boston, LA or Chicago, where GA Group has offices, but we are open to remote candidates who meet the requirements of the role.
