Manager - General Accounting

Overview

Lifeway is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead the General Accounting team and own the financial infrastructure that keeps our mission-driven organization running with integrity. In this role, you will oversee financial reporting, general ledger operations, treasury functions, royalty administration, and corporate tax compliance while partnering closely with FP&A and senior leadership on strategic financial decisions. This is a high-visibility leadership role for a CPA who thrives in a collaborative environment and wants their work to matter beyond the balance sheet.

This is a remote position in the U.S. with occasional travel to Nashville for in-person team gatherings.  

Responsibilities

• Lives out Lifeway’s mission and values, showing deep commitment to Kingdom work
• Limited travel: 2-4 times per year, typically overnight
• Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the General Accounting team, including performance oversight and professional development
• Oversee financial reporting processes and general ledger maintenance, ensuring full compliance with GAAP and internal policies
• Direct corporate reconciliations and journal entry activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely close cycles
• Manage treasury and cash management functions, including banking relationships, liquidity monitoring, and short-term investment strategies
• Support internal and external audits by ensuring strong internal controls and regulatory compliance
• Oversee the accuracy and administration of royalty processes and reporting
• Partner with FP&A as a key liaison on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial initiatives
• Ensure corporate tax compliance across federal and state filings, including UBIT and state franchise tax matters
• Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes, reporting tools, and system capabilities to drive efficiency and accuracy

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or Finance - required

Master's degree in Business, Accounting or Finance - preferred

Advanced graduate degree (PhD, etc.) - not required

Skills, Knowledge, & Experiences, required

• CPA certification (active)
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
• 2+ years in a managerial or supervisory role
• Advanced proficiency in financial reporting, reconciliation, and GAAP compliance
• Experience with ERP systems, particularly Oracle EBS or Oracle Cloud
• Strong Microsoft Excel and financial modeling skills
• Ability to travel to the Middle Tennessee area 2-4 times annually for team gatherings

Actively involved in an evangelical Christian church

Skills, Knowledge, & Experiences, preferred 

• Experience with corporate treasury management and tax strategy
• Proficiency with financial reporting tools such as MicroStrategy or Power BI
• Familiarity with royalty administration systems and processes
