JOB OVERVIEW
The Procurement Lead owns the purchasing function within FTAI’s Supply Chain organization, leading a team of Procurement Analysts responsible for sourcing the materials, parts, and services that support MRO/MRE operations. This role sets sourcing strategy, owns supplier relationships and negotiated agreements, and is accountable for the team’s performance on cost, lead time, and material availability against business targets.
Because the Supply Chain organization encompasses both Procurement and Repairs, the Procurement Lead partners closely with the Repair Lead to align priorities, share resources, and deploy analysts across functions as business needs shift. The role is both strategic and hands-on — setting direction and developing the team while staying close enough to daily execution to resolve escalations, and leading or supporting ad hoc supply chain projects as required.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Procurement Analysts, setting clear priorities, workload allocation, and performance expectations.
- Own hiring, onboarding, and training for the team; build bench strength and cross-training across the Supply Chain organization.
- Hold regular one-on-ones and performance discussions, providing ongoing feedback and career development support.
- Establish, monitor, and report team KPIs, and communicate performance and risks to leadership.
- Define, document, and enforce standard operating procedures, approval thresholds, and internal controls.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for the team, and partner with the Repair Lead to balance workload and align priorities across the organization.
Procurement Ownership (primary focus)
- Develop and execute tactical and strategic sourcing plans to acquire materials, parts, and commodities at or below market levels together with Commodity Managers.
- Monitor market supply trends, pricing, and lead-time conditions; anticipate supply risk and develop mitigation and contingency plans.
- Partner with MRO/MRE Operations on material shortages, indirect procurement, and demand planning; represent Supply Chain in production and material management meetings.
- Own inventory strategy in coordination with Operations, including Min/Max levels, safety stock, and inventory optimization.
- Conduct cost-benefit and risk assessments for sourcing decisions and supply chain projects; support budget development and spend tracking.
- Drive continuous improvement in procurement systems, processes, workflows, and reporting.
- Ensure purchasing activity complies with company policy, approval authority, and applicable regulatory and traceability requirements.
Cross-Functional and Ad Hoc Supply Chain Support
- Partner with the Repair Lead on buy-versus-repair strategy and shared resourcing across the Supply Chain organization.
- Provide leadership coverage for the Repairs function and support repair projects during absences, peak workload, or special initiatives.
- Lead or support ad hoc supply chain initiatives, analyses, and reporting requested by leadership.
- Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Quality, and Logistics to align supply chain activity with broader business objectives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or related field; equivalent relevant experience considered in lieu of a degree.
- 5+ years of procurement, purchasing, or supply chain experience, including experience leading a team, projects, or others in a formal or informal capacity.
- Demonstrated success in supplier negotiation, cost reduction, and vendor performance management.
- Strong understanding of supply chain concepts, methodologies, and best practices.
- Proficiencyin Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills; comfort working in ERP and reporting tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound commercial judgment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across all organizational levels.
- Ability to manage competing priorities andmaintainprofessionalism in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Fluent in English (written and verbal).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in aviation, aerospace, or another regulated technical environment; familiarity with engine parts, PMA, or MRO supply chains.
- Direct people-management experience, including hiring, training, and performance management.
- Experience using Quantum.
- Familiarity with repair processes, parts sourcing, and typical associated documentation.
- Experience working in a global, matrixed organization.
- Professional certification such as CPSM, CPM, or ASCM/APICS (CPIM, CSCP).
- Track record of implementing process or system improvements within a supply chain function.
