Meet the team
Finance supports RTÉ’s public-service mission by providing strong financial stewardship, trusted insight and disciplined management of the organisation’s resources.
As part of a review of the Finance operating model, the existing Head of Finance role has been restructured and retitled as Group Finance Director. The revised role brings together accountability for the Group’s core finance activities, reflecting both the scale and complexity of the organisation and the strategic importance of Finance to RTÉ’s transformation. As a replacement role within the existing Finance leadership structure, it is designed to strengthen the function’s capacity to deliver an effective, responsive and high-quality service across the organisation.
We are now looking for an experienced finance leader to take on this pivotal role, leading RTÉ’s core finance function and playing a central part in financial strategy, transformation and long-term sustainability.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and based in Dublin, the Group Finance Director will oversee financial control, reporting, planning, treasury, tax, audit, financial risk and finance operations across the RTÉ Group. The role will work closely with the Leadership Team, Board and Audit & Risk Committee and represent RTÉ with government departments, regulators, external auditors, funders and other key stakeholders.
About the role
- Partner with the CFO and Leadership Team to develop and deliver RTÉ’s financial strategy, long-term financial plan and transformation priorities.
- Lead financial control, management and statutory reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, working capital, tax, payroll and core finance operations.
- Provide the CFO, executive leadership, Board and its committees with clear analysis, performance reporting and advice to support strategy, resource allocation, commercial decisions, investment appraisal and the delivery of RTÉ’s financial plan.
- Maintain a strong control and assurance environment, oversee financial risk and ensure compliance with accounting, tax, regulatory and statutory obligations.
- Modernise finance systems, processes and data capabilities while driving sustainable efficiencies, disciplined cost management and operational improvement.
- Lead and develop a high-performing finance team and build trusted relationships with auditors, regulators, government departments, funders and other key stakeholders.
- A recognised professional accountancy qualification, such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
- Substantial senior leadership experience in a finance function within an organisation of significant scale and complexity.
- Broad expertise across financial reporting, control, treasury, tax, audit, governance, risk, budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning.
- A strong record of advising executive teams and boards and translating complex financial matters into clear, actionable insight.
- Proven success in leading finance transformation, strengthening systems and controls, and delivering process automation and operational improvement.
- An inclusive, resilient and decisive leadership style, with the ability to lead through significant change, develop high-performing teams and influence financial and non-financial stakeholders at executive and Board level.
- Experience in a public-service, regulated or similarly complex stakeholder environment.
- Experience with ERP transformation, data analytics and business-intelligence tools.
