Duties
The United States Space Force (USSF) at Patrick AFB, Brevard, FL is searching for a Financial Analyst to support SYD 80/S8 (NH-0501-03, GS 12/13 equivalent).
Description:
The Launch and Test Range System (LTRS) program office within SFPAE/SA is looking for a Financial Management Analyst. LTRS is responsible for the acquisition, development, modernization, integration, and sustainment of the systems-of-systems that comprise the nation's space launch and test ranges. This position is based in Patrick Space Force Base located on Florida's Space Coast between Cocoa Beach and Satellite Beach along Florida's Space Coast. This is not just a job tracking spreadsheets-it is a mission-critical role where your financial acumen directly translates into rockets lifting off, cutting-edge satellites deploying, and next-generation space logistics technologies becoming reality.
In this high-impact position, you will manage, execute, and safeguard multi-million and billion-dollar portfolios encompassing RDT&E, Procurement, and O&M funds. You will collaborate closely with military leaders, elite aerospace engineers, and industry partners to navigate complex acquisition landscapes, solve intricate financial challenges, and drive strategic budget decisions. If you are a proactive problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to make a tangible impact on the nation's high-visibility space programs, SFPAE/SA is where your career can truly launch.
Ideal Candidate:
The Financial Management Analyst will act as a critical financial advisor and business partner to program managers, engineers, and leadership within the Space Force Portfolio Acquisition Executive (SFPAE) for Space Access (SFPAE/SA). Operating from Patrick SFB, Florida, this position manages, executes, and audits multi-million and billion-dollar budgets (including RDT&E, Procurement, and O&M funds) that directly enable launch service task orders, infrastructure modernization, and cutting-edge space logistics acquisitions. The candidate should have the ability to translate complex financial data, shortfalls, and execution metrics into clear briefings to leadership. The candidate should be able to solve problems under shifting program deadlines, sudden budget drills, and unexpected funding adjustments typical in high-visibility space acquisition initiatives.
A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, economics, or a closely related field that includes at least 24 semester hours in business-related courses is required. Candidate should have at least 3-5 years of federal financial management experience, preferably within a DoD or Department of the Air Force acquisition program. High proficiency in using CCaR (Comprehensive Cost and Requirement System) is critical for managing program requirements and tracking execution. Direct, hands-on experience with core systems including DEAMS (Defense Enterprise Accounting and Management System) and FM Suite. Candidate should have a deep understanding of DoD colors of money (RDT&E, Procurement, O&M) and their respective lifespans and legal restrictions.
An ideal candidate must be prepared to handle the unique and complex financial workflows of the SFPAE/SA:
- Budget Formulation & Execution: Build, justify, and execute complex program budgets. Track commitments, obligations, and expenditures against OSW (Office of the Secretary of War) benchmarks
- Acquisition Decision Support: Provide financial analysis, cost-benefit analyses, and risk assessments for high-value contract actions, such as launch service task orders or space mobility research agreements.
- Reconciliations & Systems Management: Navigate, reconcile, and extract data across defense financial systems to resolve complex transactions, ensure data integrity, and interface with higher headquarters and outside agencies
- Audit Readiness & Internal Controls: Ensure complete compliance with the Department of War Financial Management Regulation (DoW FMR) and Financial Improvement and Audit Remediation (FIAR) standards. Keep all financial packages audit-ready and traceable.
