Johnson & Johnson is hiring for a Director, Procurement – Shockwave Medical to join our team located in Santa Clara, CA.

Fueled by innovation at the intersection of biology and technology, we’re developing the next generation of smarter, less invasive, more personalized treatments. Ready to join a team that’s pioneering the development and commercialization of Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL) to treat complex calcified cardiovascular disease. Our Shockwave Medical portfolio aims to establish a new standard of care for medical device treatment of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease through its differentiated and proprietary local delivery of sonic pressure waves for the treatment of calcified plaque.

Position Overview 

The Global Procurement Director provides leadership and strategic direction for all Circulatory Restoration procurement activities, including direct material planning and purchasing, indirect procurement, and strategic sourcing. This role is accountable for ensuring material availability, supplier performance, cost competitiveness, supply continuity, and effective execution of procurement strategies in support of business, operational, and customer requirements. 

Essential Job Functions 

• Enterprise strategy and partnership: Define a multi-year procurement and category strategy aligned with growth, portfolio, margin, quality, and continuity goals; advise senior leaders using market, spend, and scenario insights. 

• Value creation: Deliver total-cost, productivity, working-capital, demand-management, and commercial-innovation improvements. 

• Supply resilience: Build a scalable, diversified supplier and contract manufacturing network; anticipate capacity, geopolitical, financial, quality, technology, and single-source risks. 

• Supplier and commercial leadership: Segment and govern critical suppliers, strengthen performance and innovation, and lead high-value or high-risk negotiations and agreements. 

• Product lifecycle enablement: Partner across R&D, Operations, Quality, Finance, and Commercial teams on design-to-value, supplier selection, NPI readiness, scaling, transitions, and end-of-life plans. 

• Procurement transformation: Advance the operating model, governance, policies, processes, data standards, ERP, automation, analytics, and decision-support capabilities. 

• Performance and compliance: Establish KPIs and executive reporting while maintaining ethical sourcing, audit readiness, delegated authority, quality-system requirements, and legal compliance. 

• Organizational leadership: Build a high-performing procurement organization with the capabilities, succession depth, and credibility to support current operations and future growth. 

People Leadership Responsibilities

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. 

• 12+ years of progressive procurement, sourcing, contract manufacturing, supply chain, or supplier-risk experience, including 5+ years leading managers or professional teams in a complex, regulated, or global environment. 

• Proven success building multi-year procurement strategies that create value, strengthen resilience, and support growth. 

• Experience leading executive supplier relationships and complex negotiations involving price, capacity, quality, service, risk, and contracts. 

• Strong knowledge of manufacturing and supply-chain economics for medical devices, electronics, components, and contract manufacturing; NPI and scale-up experience preferred. 

• Experience leading procurement transformation, including operating models, governance, ERP/MRP, digital tools, analytics, and process standardization; QAD or Oracle preferred. 

• Strong financial, analytical, communication, negotiation, and executive-presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior cross-functional stakeholders. 

• Track record of building inclusive, high-performing teams and developing leaders and successors. 

• Working knowledge of applicable quality and compliance requirements, including traceability, QSR, ISO, and medical-device regulations. 

• CPM, CPSM, or equivalent certification preferred. 

Additional Information

• The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
