When the 2022 national infant formula shortage left parents across the country unable to feed their babies, we closed our storefront to new customers rather than leave a single existing family without formula. We went to Washington. We got loud. And we opened our Heath, Ohio manufacturing facility to make sure something like that could never happen again.

Bobbie for Change

Our advocacy arm, Bobbie for Change, exists because making great formula isn't enough if the systems around parenthood are still broken. We fight for paid federal parental leave, push for legislation to prevent future formula shortages, advocate for feeding equity, and support families navigating impossible situations, including donating formula to parents impacted by breast and gynecologic cancers through the Bobbie Breasties program.

About the Role

Bobbie is a $150M+ infant nutrition company growing 50% year over year, expanding into new product categories while operating under FDA-regulated infant formula standards. The Director, Procurement & Raw Materials Strategy is a newly created role that will own strategic sourcing and supplier management for the ingredients and packaging behind that growth, reporting directly to the VP, Supply Chain.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management

• Own supplier strategy across dairy and nutritional ingredients, other ingredients and premixes, and packaging: a base of roughly 25 approved suppliers today, growing as Bobbie enters new categories.
• Lead negotiation of multi-year supply agreements and master supply agreements.
• Qualify and onboard new suppliers as Bobbie launches into new product categories, weighing lead time, cost, and regulatory risk, including FDA and IFN clearance timing on new packaging and ingredients.
• Build a formal supplier qualification process and scorecards where none exist today.

Cost Accounting & Systems

• Stand up cost accounting and PPV reporting for raw material and packaging spend, replacing the manual spreadsheet tracking the team relies on today.
• Own procurement's use of ERP for planning, MRP, PO issuance, and item costing, partnering with the supply chain systems function to improve it over time.
• Work with Finance to manage the PO approval thresholds tied to cash-timing, balancing raw material lead times against cash management needs.

Team Leadership

• Manage and develop the purchasing team.
• Shift the team's day-to-day from reactive tactical buying toward proactive category strategy and supplier relationship management.

Cross-Functional Partnership

• Partner with Quality, Regulatory, and Science on ingredient and packaging specifications, supplier audits, and regulatory clearance timing.
• Partner with Supply Planning and Plant Operations, including comanufacturing sites, on demand signals, lead times, and inventory positioning.
• Partner with Finance on cash-timing, PO approval workflows, and cost reporting.
• Support new product launches end to end from a procurement standpoint: supplier selection, PO timing against regulatory clearance, and managing the tradeoffs of ordering ahead of clearance when launch timelines require it.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years in procurement or strategic sourcing, including experience negotiating multi-year supply agreements, ideally in food, CPG, or another regulated manufacturing environment.
• Experience standing up or significantly improving cost accounting or PPV processes.
• Comfort working directly in an ERP system and building reporting where none exists today.
• Experience managing suppliers through new product launches, including regulatory-driven timelines.
• People leadership experience, with comfort both setting strategy and staying close enough to the details to unblock the team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Dairy or nutritional ingredient sourcing experience.
• Experience in infant formula, baby food, or another FDA-regulated food category.
• Experience scaling a procurement function inside a high-growth company (50%+ year over year growth).

Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation

Our salaries are based on paying competitively for our size and industry. For fully remote roles, we have a salary range per role that is differentiated based on geographic location (Group A, B, or C).

• Group A (SF/Bay Area, Seattle, NYC): $170,100–$200,000
• Group B (Los Angeles, Chicago, Austin, Denver, Boston, Washington DC, San Diego, Philadelphia, Portland, Sacramento): $153,100 - $180,000
• Group C (All Other Cities): $144,600 - $170,000
