Labcorp is seeking a Hybrid Director, Payroll Projects & Payroll Time to join our team!

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00am-5:00pm EST

This hybrid position offers a balanced schedule of three in-office workdays at our Burlington or Durham, NC locations and two remote workdays per week, supporting both collaboration and flexibility.

The Director, Payroll Projects & Payroll Time is responsible for leading the global payroll transformation, governance, and workforce time strategy to drive operational excellence, compliance, scalability, and employee experience across the organization.

This role oversees the design and execution of complex, enterprise-wide payroll and time initiatives, including strategic efforts, process harmonization, technology optimization, automation, and continuous improvement efforts across multiple countries and jurisdictions.

As a strategic leader, the Director partners closely with Payroll, HR, Finance, Technology, and external vendors to identify opportunities for innovation, mitigate risk, and enhance service delivery. The role leverages data analytics and industry best practices to inform decision-making, improve business outcomes, and support organizational growth. With broad global scope and visibility, the Director regularly engages with senior and executive leadership to shape payroll and time strategies, influence key business decisions, and ensure alignment with enterprise objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead large-scale, cross-functional global payroll and workforce time projects from strategy through execution.
• Drive payroll harmonization, process standardization, and transformation initiatives across regions and business units.
• Identify and implement automation, technology enhancements, and innovative solutions that improve efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
• Establish governance frameworks, project roadmaps, and performance metrics to support sustainable operational excellence.
• Partner with senior leadership to develop and execute payroll and time strategies aligned with organizational priorities.
• Utilize advanced analytics and reporting to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and actionable insights.
• Ensure global compliance with payroll, wage and hour, timekeeping, and regulatory requirements while supporting business expansion and change initiatives.
• Lead, mentor, and develop project and operational teams to foster a culture of continuous improvement and customer-focused service delivery.
• Support internal and external audit data requests, coordinating with other internal stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field
• 10+ years of progressive payroll experience, including global payroll operations, payroll project management, payroll technology, and/or workforce time management.
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing payroll, project, or cross-functional teams in a complex, multinational organization.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Human Resources, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field.

• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), Global Payroll Management Institute (GPMI), PMP, Prosci Change Management, Lean Six Sigma, or similar professional certification.
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing payroll, project, or cross-functional teams in a complex, multinational organization.
• Experience leading large-scale payroll implementations, transformations, system enhancements, acquisitions, collective bargaining agreement pay practice implementations, harmonization initiatives, or enterprise change programs.
• Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, tax regulations, wage and hour requirements, and payroll controls across multiple jurisdictions.
• Experience presenting recommendations, project status, and strategic initiatives to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.

• Expertise with Workday HCM, Workday Payroll, Workday Time, ADP SmartCompliance, ADP GlobalView and Streamline, payroll integrations, and advanced reporting/analytics tools.

• Prioritizes competing initiatives and resources while maintaining focus on delivering measurable business results.

• Ability to identify, engage, and partner cross-functionally with stakeholders and influence decision-making at the executive level.
• Influences senior leaders with the ability to communicate complex operational impacts, and drive alignment across global stakeholders.

• Operates effectively in a hybrid or office-based environment, collaborating with global teams and stakeholders across multiple time zones.
• Supports critical business initiatives and project deliverables that may require flexibility in work schedules, including occasional extended or non-traditional business hours.
• Utilizes technology, data analytics, and digital collaboration tools extensively to drive decision-making, project execution, and operational improvements.
• Engages with internal and external stakeholders through virtual and in-person meetings and may periodically travel to support strategic initiatives, project implementations, and leadership engagements.
• Performs work in a professional office setting, requiring extended periods of computer use, participation in virtual meetings, and management of multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

The position is also eligible for an annual bonus under the Labcorp Bonus Plan. Bonuses are payable based on corporate and/or business segment performance and are subject to individual performance modifiers. Compensation may also include discretionary short- and long-term incentive packages.
