As a subsidiary of Summit Utilities, Inc., Peaks benefits from a culture of excellence that continues to earn national and regional recognition as an employer of choice. These recognitions include Best Places to Work in Maine (2019–2025); Best Places to Work in Arkansas (2020, 2023, 2025); Best Places to Work in Oklahoma (2022–2025); Best Places to Work in Missouri (2023 and 2026); Best Places to Work in Colorado (2025); Forbes America’s Best Small Employers (2023); and, most recently, Proud and Purposeful Employer (2026). Being part of the Peaks team means embracing excellence and innovation. We are building a best-in-class platform and are looking for driven, entrepreneurial team members who are energized by the idea of helping scale a growing business. We have an exciting opportunity for a Director of Accounting & FP&A with PEAKS Renewables. This hybrid role may be based in Maine or Arkansas, with a remote work option available for candidates located in Texas. POSITION SUMMARY The Director of Accounting & FP&A is responsible for institutionalizing and leading the accounting and financial planning and analysis function at Peaks Renewables. This position will build the processes, controls, and systems to facilitate timely and accurate financial reporting for Peaks’ portfolio of renewable natural gas (“RNG”) projects. The Director will own the production of GAAP-compliant financial statements and monthly close processes for Peaks’ project entities and the consolidated platform, help lead the implementation of SAP as Peaks’ new ERP system, and support regular budget-to-actual and reforecasting process. The Director will serve as Peaks’ primary finance partner to Summit Utilities, Peaks’ parent company, ensuring that Peaks’ accounting, planning, and reporting are aligned with Summit’s corporate standards while reflecting the unregulated, project-based nature of the Peaks business. This is a hands-on build-and-lead role: the Director will design the function, perform much of the work directly in its early stages, and scale the team and systems as the platform grows through development and acquisition. The Director must develop a deep understanding of the financial and commercial drivers of the RNG business, including environmental attribute markets, federal tax credit programs, and project finance, and translate operating performance into clear financial insight for Peaks and Summit leadership, lender partners, and other key stakeholders. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assess current-state accounting and FP&A processes and develop and execute a prioritized roadmap for the function, including staffing, systems, and the division of responsibilities between Peaks and the Summit teams. Build, lead, and institutionalize the Peaks Accounting & FP&A function, including the processes, controls, close and planning calendars, systems, and team required to support a growing multi-asset platform, in coordination with Summit’s FP&A and accounting groups. Serve as the primary finance interface between Peaks and Summit, aligning Peaks’ accounting policies, close calendar, consolidation, and reporting deliverables with Summit standards. Lead the ERP implementation as its business owner at Peaks, including requirements and design, chart of accounts and reporting dimensions, data migration, cutover, and user adoption. Own the monthly close for Peaks project entities and the Peaks platform, producing balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements with monthly tie-outs and account reconciliations under a documented close calendar and review process. Manage consolidation and intercompany accounting across project entities, the Peaks platform, and Summit, including intercompany balances, funding, and eliminations. Own technical accounting for the platform, including environmental attribute (RIN, LCFS, and other programs) revenue recognition, attribute inventory, tax credit treatment and transfers, leases, asset retirement obligations, capitalization policy, and purchase accounting on acquisitions. Partner with the Summit team as needed to support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and working capital oversight and controls. Own the Peaks platform annual budget, periodic reforecasts, and long-range plan, building a driver-based process that rolls project-level operating, commercial, and capital assumptions up to the platform and aligns with Summit’s planning calendar. Own and support budget-to-actual processes and variance analyses, delivering the financial content for the monthly performance review of each project and the platform. Maintain and support project-level and consolidated financial models, reconciling model assumptions to actual operating results. Support the M&A team with financial and accounting diligence, acquisition models, and the post-close integration of acquired assets into Peaks’ accounting, reporting, and planning processes. Prepare quarterly reporting packages for Peaks leadership, Summit, and the board. Hire, develop, and manage the Accounting & FP&A team as the platform grows, and train operations and commercial personnel on budgeting and accounting requirements. EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE Requires bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA strongly preferred, MBA a plus) Minimum twelve (12) years of experience in accounting, FP&A, and/or corporate finance Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience leading a month-end close, planning, or financial reporting process, including directing the work of others Experience in RNG, renewables, infrastructure, or another project-finance-based business strongly preferred. Experience leading or playing a central role in an ERP implementation is strongly preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES Strong command of US GAAP, including revenue recognition, business combinations, and the accounting for tax credits and environmental attributes. Demonstrated track record of building or substantially rebuilding finance processes such as the month-end close, budgeting, and management reporting in a growing or changing organization. Advanced financial modeling skills, including project-level and consolidated three-statement models, debt sizing, and covenant analysis. Working knowledge of RNG and renewable fuels economics, including the Renewable Fuel Standard, the California Low Carbon Fuel Standard and similar programs, and federal clean fuel and investment tax credits, or the ability to develop it quickly Experience operating within a parent-subsidiary structure, including consolidation, intercompany accounting, and alignment with corporate policies and calendars. Ability to communicate financial results clearly and concisely to operators, executives, parent company leadership, the board, and lenders. Builder mindset: comfortable with ambiguity and willing to do the work directly while designing processes that scale, with sound judgment, high integrity, and exceptional attention to detail.
