Corporate Controller

POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Corporate Accounting leads the corporate accounting function and is accountable for the integrity of Gebhart Holdings’ financial records. The role owns the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close; maintains internal controls; and ensures compliance with U.S. GAAP and regulatory standards. The Director also leads and develops the accounting team and drives process improvements that shorten close cycles and strengthen financial reporting.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Reporting & Month-End Close

•      Manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close from start to finish, delivering accurate financial statements on the close calendar.

•      Review and approve journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analyses for all corporate entities.

•      Prepare consolidated financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

•      Work with the FP&A function to explain budget-to-actual variances and provide data-driven operational insights to leadership.

Technical Accounting, Audit & Tax Compliance

•      Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors; prepare and coordinate PBC schedules and manage the annual audit through completion.

•      Design, implement, and monitor the internal control framework, and document and remediate identified control gaps.

•      Research new technical accounting standards, implement required changes, and maintain written internal accounting policies.

•      Partner with external tax advisors on corporate tax provisions, state and local tax compliance, and payroll tax oversight.

Team Leadership & Process Improvement

•      Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting team; set expectations, provide regular feedback, and build a culture of continuous learning and high performance.

•      Identify manual accounting workflows and automate or standardize them to reduce close cycle time.

•      Contribute to the optimization of the finance technology stack and ERP system.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Preferred

•      Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.

•      Experience: 5–7+ years of progressive corporate accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.

•      Technical knowledge: Deep, working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal control frameworks.

•      Systems: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and hands-on experience with mid- to large-tier ERP systems.

•      Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.

Preferred

•      CPA designation, or active progression toward licensure.

•      Public accounting experience with a Big 4 or large regional firm.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

•      Schedule: Monday through Friday, 40-45 hours per week, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

•      Fast-paced, high-volume office role with heavy email and phone communication throughout the day.

•      Work is primarily sedentary and performed seated at a computer.

•      Occasional visits to production, warehouse, or foundry areas involving heat, noise, dust, moving equipment, and temperature swings.

•      Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.
