SUMMARY

Maintains integrity of all accounting functions and tasks used to generate accurate data for management of the corporation by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Oversee the activities of the Corporate Accounting Department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial reports, including but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements and annual audits. 
• Analyzes and interprets financial data and recommends changes to improve systems and financial performance.
• Oversees financial controls and allocates accounting department workload in such a way as to facilitate an effective financial control environment.
• Provides management control and decision support to all departments.
• Coordinates with all departments to develop an annual budget to present to management for approval.
• Respond to CFO as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate company financial needs.
• Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.
• Oversee all cost accounting functions for the company, particularly in valuation of inventory and cost of goods sold. Collaborate with Information Systems Manager to efficiently provide timely and accurate information on the financial impact of manufacturing activities.
• Participate in the year-end audit and all tasks of the accounting department within the guidelines of corporate policy. This involves evaluation of the trial balance to ensure data accuracy. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Directly supervises employees in the accounting department and their responsibilities. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

Bachelor’s degree (B.S. OR B.A.) Business Administration/Accounting with five to seven years exposure to manufacturing departments/staff, financial reporting/general ledger area, cost accounting, reporting, and variance analysis. Strong interpersonal, supervisory skills, and ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines.  

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages and volume. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Ability to read and interpret certain documents. Ability to write comprehensible reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information regarding accounting functions to customers and employees of the company.  

COMPUTER APPLICATION SKILLS

Windows Operating System: Microsoft Office Suite of products which include Excel, Access, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint. Also experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP preferred. 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, ten-key adding machine, and printer. The employee occasionally has to reach with hands and arms to gain access to certain information stored on shelves and desk. The employee must stand and walk occasionally. The employee occasionally has to stoop to or crouch to obtain information from file drawers. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear on the phone to convey and receive information from people. The employee occasionally may have to lift up to 25 pounds. This job requires close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
