Job Summary
We are currently seeking a Client Accounting Services Senior – Nonprofit Practice to join our team in any of the following office locations:Jericho, NY; New York, NY; White Plains, NY. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic and growing firm.
The Client Accounting Services Senior provides nonprofit clients with various accounting and advisory duties requiring evaluation, ingenuity, and accuracy on a timely basis. Working closely with a diverse portfolio of not-for-profit organizations, our professionals deliver outsourced accounting, fund accounting, and financial reporting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and FASB ASC 958. This role supports the monthly close, audit readiness, and Form 990 preparation, and offers meaningful exposure to mission-driven organizations across the sector.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Performing core accounting functions for nonprofit clients, including maintaining the general ledger, preparing and posting journal entries, and supporting the monthly close process
- Preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigating variances, including the tracking of donor-restricted and board-designated net assets
- Supporting the preparation of monthly and quarterly nonprofit financial statements in accordance with FASB ASC 958, including workpapers and supporting schedules
- Performing bank, credit card, investment, and other account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data
- Preparing and maintaining functional expense allocations across program, management and general, and fundraising categories
- Preparing budget-to-actual reporting, variance analysis, and management reporting packages for client leadership and boards
- Assisting with audit readiness, including preparing workpapers and prepared-by-client (PBC) schedules and responding to external auditor requests
- Supporting the preparation and review of supporting data for Form 990 and related filings, coordinating with tax preparers as needed
- Monitoring grant and funder compliance requirements and ensuring timely completion of assigned deliverables and compliance-related filings
- Ensuring adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and nonprofit accounting standards, as well as firm and client policies and procedures
- Communicating with clients to address routine requests and provide updates on deliverables
- Reviewing the work of associates and offshore support staff, and collaborating with senior team members on special projects as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
- Minimum of at least 3+ years of relevant accounting experience, with nonprofit or public accounting experience preferred
- Knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards (FASB ASC 958), including net asset classification and functional expense reporting; familiarity with Form 990, Uniform Guidance, or single audit requirements a plus
- CPA and/or in process of obtaining CPA preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, initiative, and leadership skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Excel) and accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, and Fund EZ desired
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Ability to work in team environment and to work additional hours as needed
- Maintains a high level of professionalism and consistently demonstrates respect for others

Compensation for this role is determined based on a combination of factors, including but not limited to your relevant experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Salary ranges are provided to offer transparency and may vary depending on final candidate qualifications and local market conditions. Please find compensation information below for candidates residing in New York.
New York ranges are from $80,000 – $100,000
