The CFO is responsible for directing the accounting/financing department of the organization in accordance with sound business practices and generally accepted accounting principles. The following duties are an overview of the primary duties and responsibilities of the Spring Grove Chief Financial Officer and should not be considered an all-inclusive list.
- Excellent communication both verbal and written
- Interface with all levels of the organization and customers
- Proficient in database and accounting computer application systems
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Oversee the organization's financial function including the timely production of all monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
- Manage, evaluate and develop accounting team personnel
- Lead and manage the annual budgeting process
- Develop, implement and enforce all policies and procedures necessary to provide appropriate controls including but not limited to cash controls, financing policies, collections and payroll.
- Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to manage cash position.
- Manage and optimize the pre-need trusting function including draws / deposits into the endowment
- Continually refine the finance department structure and team to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the group
- Provide and refine cost analysis of all company services and products
- Provide all appropriate and required tax reporting for all Spring Grove companies
- Work with our outside auditors to provide accurate and efficient auditing of the financial statements
- Work with HR to design, evaluate and purchase appropriate benefit packages for employees
- Evaluate and optimize all insurance purchases including P&C, Life, D&O, etc.
- Risk Management
- Participate in the development of the corporation's strategies, plans and programs as part of the senior management team.
- Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning including risk, profitability, and capital
- Timely and accurate analysis of budgets, cash flow, financial reports and financial trends in order to assist the CEO, the Board and other senior executives in performing their responsibilities.
- Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the organization, i.e., evaluation of potential alliances acquisitions and/or mergers and pension funds and investments.
- Be an advisor from the financial perspective on any contracts into which the Corporation may enter.
This is a full-time Exempt position. Business days and hours of work are: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Travel
Local travel required between campuses for support. Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience

- Experience with Sage Intacct financials helpful but not required
- Experience with trusting laws as it pertains to the Cemetery and Funeral business helpful but not required
- General knowledge of Cemetery Accounting is helpful but not required
- Master’s degree and CPA or equivalent combination of education and experience of at least 10 years as a CFO.
- Experience with ERP and core systems as well as MS 365
- Displays a “Customer First” attitude.
