The Opportunity As the CALA Commercial Controller, you are the commercial finance leader for Abbott’s Heart Failure Business Unit in Canada and Latin America. You will serve as the lead commercial finance partner to the CALA leadership team, providing financial guidance, business insights, and strategic decision support to drive growth. You are solution oriented, data driven, and possess strong inter-personal skills to support the CALA commercial sales organization. This role is highly independent individual contributor and requires someone who is comfortable making strategic business decisions. This opportunity is located in Austin, TX. What You'll Work On Serve as a trusted advisor to commercial leadership by analyzing business performance, identifying risks and opportunities, and influencing strategic decisions. Lead monthly financial close activities and quarterly forecasting cycles, including LBEs (Latest Best Estimates), for the CALA Commercial organization. Lead sales forecasting activities across multiple cadences (bi-weekly and monthly), partnering closely with Commercial Sales teams to provide an accurate sales outlook. Lead the annual quota process and be an integral part of the sales compensation design. Support the annual operating plan and long-range planning cycles for CALA. Partner closely with local CFS and in-country personnel to support audits and other key initiatives to run the business. Serve as a key contributor to the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process for the CALA. Heart Failure business, partnering with Commercial Excellence, Demand Planning, and Marketing. Manage balance sheet responsibilities, including monthly variance analysis, forecasting, and ongoing support of evolving business needs. Develop financial models, executive-level analyses, and business insights to support strategic decision-making while driving continuous improvement across forecasting, reporting, and planning processes. Work cohesively with cross-functional teams (marketing, sales, accounting, etc.) and adapt to diverse business cultures and working styles across the U.S., Canada, and Latin America. Perform ad hoc analyses, reporting, and special projects as needed. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in FP&A, Commercial Finance, or related finance functions; experience supporting a commercial sales organization is a plus. Demonstrated track record of delivering insights, reporting, and business recommendations that influence management decision-making. Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Ability to learn quickly and thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing competing priorities. Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to approach challenges with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Preferred Qualifications CPA and/or MBA preferred. Medical device or healthcare industry experience preferred. Proficiency in Spanish a plus. Experience working with foreign exchange (Fx) rates. Experience with Essbase, Hyperion, or similar financial planning applications. Experience developing data-driven dashboards and visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools. Proficiency with SAP and Salesforce preferred.
