Business Personal Property Tax Associate

- Prepare annual Business Personal Property renditions, Freeport applications and any other applicable required form throughout the U.S.
- Reconcile clients' fixed assets and financials to make sure what's being filed is accurate
- Review assessments and file appeals when a valuation is off
- Negotiate valuations directly with local appraisers
- Build the supporting documentation that makes your case actually stick in a hearing
- Prepare annual tax budgets by validating jurisdictions per property and confirming tax rates are accurate, so clients can track any changes needed to their accruals
- Maintain client data in the property tax software database
- Serve as a regular, day-to-day point of contact for a portfolio of clients — not just at filing deadlines; you’ll be ahead of the curve, building relationships with proactive outreach throughout the year
- Build client trust through service and performance: understanding each client's business well enough to spot savings opportunities before they ask
- Retain client relationships with a focus on minimizing their property tax liabilities year over year
- Respond to client inquiries and to requests from taxing authorities — you're often the first voice a client or an appraiser hears
- Communicate proactively with clients on filing status, assessment changes, and appeal outcomes, so they never have to wonder where things stand
- Represent the client's interests directly in conversations with appraisers, adjusting your approach as each relationship and each case calls for it
- You manage your time well and don't let deadlines sneak up on you
- You're analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable juggling multiple client files at once
- You approach problems with genuine critical thinking, not just checklist-following
- You're self-motivated — you don't need someone standing over you to stay on track
- You have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and you process and execute instructions in the same manner
- You can flex your schedule for overtime and weekends when a deadline calls for it
- Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or Business Administration
- Licensed Texas Property Tax Consultant by the Texas Board of Licensing and Regulation (or obtained shortly after hire date)
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in property tax consulting or a related field
- Comprehensive knowledge of property tax laws, valuation methodologies, and appeal processes
- Experience with property tax software (PTMS, OneSource, SigerTax)
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Outlook, Word)
