Assistant Controller

HornBill has a client seeking an Assistant Controller in New York, New York (NY) to join their team and lead the month end closing and financial reporting process. Summary: The ideal candidate will be responsible for the monthly closings of balance sheets, assisting the VP of finance with the accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial statements and contribute to the implementation and maintenance of internal controls process and procedures. This person must be able to own the month end close and lead the financial reporting process. Will also oversee 1 - 2 staff. Responsibilities:

• Supervise staff accountants for all day to day financial transactions including maintenance of general ledger
• Prepare and supervise the preparation of monthly journal entries
• Prepare and supervise the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
• Responsible for the monthly closings of balance sheets and income statements for all entities
• Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements
• Assist VP of finance with a variety of other tasks as needed
• Handle special projects as requested by management
• Assist with the preparation for the yearly review by auditors
• Assist with implementing and maintaining internal controls and procedures
• Assists with review of work flow to ensure that all accounting transactions are processed accurately and in compliance

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• CPA a plus but not required
• 4+ years of hands on accounting experience in either public accounting or relevant private industry experience
• Should be a hand on, ambitious candidate who is interested assisting company with future growth plans
