Assistant Controller / Senior Accountant

HornBill's client, a top company in NYC is seeking an Assistant Controller (or Senior Accountant). Duties will include:

• Work independently; Assist to oversee and supervise the accounting team
• Report to controller directly, work with developer department and project team
• Prepare monthly draws and requisitions package to the bank and the owner; Verify the consistency of prior month project-to-date totals with current month opening balance; Follow up to ensure payment from owner is on time
• Review monthly project cash flow, compiling support for owner funding
• Assist monthly progress billings vs. job cost reconciliation, best/worst/probable case analysis for projects, monthly operating cost report, update monthly job costs report, update the monthly job status reports
• Prepare all kinds of reports for monthly operation management review meeting and different reports for upper level management request
• Assist controller with preparation of all kinds of audits and tax workpapers

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related discipline; or equivalent, relevant experience and knowledge
• Minimum of 8 years' related asset manager or project accounting experiences; or construction industry accounting experience is must
• Have strong experiences for GC, CM & CCIP type of projects and have strong asset manager experiences
• Familiar with handling the accounting for construction loan & permanent loan closing
• Familiar and hand on with all construction accounting tasks; Supervise project accountants for all accounting needs
• Professional with Sage 300 accounting system
• Strong organization skills and ability to effectively coordinate multiple functions and independently achieve objectives
• Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Self-starter; performs duties without daily direction
• Must be professional
