Assistant Controller

HornBill's client, a premier retailer/e-Commerce company headquartered in NYC is currently seeking an Assistant Controller. This is an opportunity to work for a big brand name and a world class CFO in a very friendly collegial environment. Responsibilities:

• Assist the Controller with all day to day responsibilities, projects, and initiatives
• Manage, supervise and direct the activities of the accounting and sales audit teams
• Lead the monthly close process including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, analysis of variations and communication of the results
• Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports and schedules for internal and external operational and compliance use
• Reconcile physical inventory results and related reporting and analysis
• Assist in preparation the weekly cash flow analysis and related lender reporting
• Prepare analysis and schedules supporting the annual audit, sales tax and other external agency reports
• Be a resource to the company management in preparation of the annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and annual strategic plans
• Develop direct reports and others on the finance team enabling them to contribute effectively in their roles
• Ad hoc reporting as needed to support the business

• 4-year Accounting degree; +10 years of Accounting/Management experience
• Strong General Ledger, Account reconciliation, Excel and Access skills
• Accounting experience in a multi-location, multi-company organization
• Retail Method of Accounting and inventory accounting experience
• E-Commerce accounting experience
• Sales Audit, Inventory Control, Accounts Payable and Real Estate Accounting experience
• JDA, Retail Ideas or BI tool, MMS, Monarch experience
