Our client is a highly regarded alternative investment firm seeking an experienced Senior Fund Accountant to join its growing Fund Accounting team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a sophisticated investment platform undergoing significant investment in technology, automation, and process improvement.
Reporting to the Fund Controller, this individual will play a key role in the preparation of financial reporting, complex reconciliations, audit coordination, and accounting for a variety of investment products within a fast-paced hedge fund environment. The position offers meaningful exposure to senior leadership while contributing to the continued development of a best-in-class accounting function.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS.
- Perform complex account reconciliations and investigate and resolve variances.
- Support the accounting and reporting for equity securities, derivatives, total return swaps, and other complex financial instruments.
- Partner with external auditors throughout the annual audit process, including preparation of audit support and financial statements.
- Work closely with Operations, Treasury, Technology, and other internal teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Assist with the implementation and enhancement of fund accounting systems and process improvements, including automation initiatives.
- Contribute to the development and strengthening of internal controls and accounting procedures.
- Mentor and support junior members of the accounting team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA preferred.
- 7+ years of hedge fund accounting experience.
- Strong experience supporting daily NAV/P&L, month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
- Experience with equity-focused investment strategies and complex financial instruments, including total return swaps.
- Knowledge of onshore and offshore fund structures, including master-feeder funds.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and IFRS financial reporting.
- Experience working directly with auditors, prime brokers, custodians, and other external counterparties.
- Experience with Geneva, VPM, or other leading fund accounting platforms is preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills and a demonstrated ability to improve processes through technology and automation.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
